A 27-year-old has been arrested for the second time in seven months on allegations of violent behavior.
On Sunday, May 1, Marcel D Zulauf-Stewart was booked on a charge of Harassment – Threats To Kill following a complaint that he threatened another man with a knife.
The victim told Olympia Police that he was in the smoking shed at Plum Street Village, a temporary site providing managed shelter for up to 40 people experiencing homelessness.

From the smoking shed, he could hear Mr Zulauf-Stewart yelling, his complaint alleged. He ordered Mr Zulauf-Stewart, who had been yelling all day, to “shut the f**k up,” he told police.
According to the complaint, Mr Zulauf-Stewart, who is male and identifies as a woman, replied: “Do you want to step outside?”
Video footage provided by an employee of a nearby establishment shows Mr Zulauf-Stewart talking to a man in the smoking shed. Mr Zulauf-Stewart is seen on the video pulling a blue knife out of a bag and taking a step forward while holding the knife to the other man’s face.
The victim fled the smoking shed and sought help from the employee, who also heard about the incident from a witness. The employee contacted police.
According to the victim, he believed Mr Zulauf-Stewart would have tried to kill him if he had not walked away. Mr Zulauf-Stewart admitted to the knife attack, but told police he was defending himself after the other man sexually solicited him.
The recent incident is not Mr Zulauf-Stewart’s first brush with the law.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, Mr Zulauf-Stewart and another male transient had a verbal dispute, which escalated to a fistfight. At about 10:20 PM, police arriving at the scene found Mr Zulauf-Stewart on top of the other man in a “mounted position.”
Mr Zulauf-Stewart complied with a police order to get off the man, but refused an additional order to sit on the ground. As the victim remained on the ground moaning, Mr Zulauf-Stewart yelled that he had “kicked [the victim’s] a*s.”
Olympia Police apprehended Mr Zulauf-Stewart with the aide of a WRAP restraint device after he refused to get into the police car. The victim of that altercation was left bleeding from the mouth and with swelling on the right side of the face and head, but refused medical attention.
Mr Zulauf-Stewart was charged with Assault in relation to last year’s incident. A graphic photograph taken by police showed Mr Zulauf-Stewart’s knuckles crusted with blood and covered in hairs allegedly belonging to the victim.
Mr Zulauf-Stewart is being held in Thurston County Jail on the most recent charges.
