General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Yes it is very personality based, but do you think all of Kizuna AI's fans left the sphere? I'm sure most of them already watched other girls, and have just moved on from that vtuber to another one.
I'm tripping myself up on my thought process because it's a lot more expansive than an autistic post on KF can reasonably contain.

But I think that, in general, explosive growth of the industry might come at the cost of what made people get into it in the first place (see: Gaming, Cinema etc).

The difference between MLP and V-Tubers is that one is a cartoon and the other is a medium, so whilst MLP fans might be shrinking, the animation studio it's affiliated with might be stronger than ever. Similarly, the V-Tuber trend might continue to incline, but — and I am going to use Hololive as an example only because it's what most people can relate to and nothing else — within the specific context of the company, you could argue that it, too, has 'iterations': there is a Pre-Coco Hololive, a Coco Hololive and a Post-Coco Hololive, for example. Old fans may not feel like the company is the same anymore and either already left or somewhat cynically/skeptically continue to engage, whilst the new fans replacing them didn't know what they missed and enjoy it for what they know it as.

Persona 1-2 fans are hostile towards Persona 3-5 fans. There are Fall Out Boy fans who gatekeep newfags because they want their grime punk band back etc. So while I don't think the 'V-Tuber Community' will become like Bronies, I think it's certainly possible that situations may occur within certain sub-groups that cause fractures to materialise, or for 'growth' to replace 'SOUL'.

I completely understand what you're saying and I agree with you when it comes to a specific company like Hololive, but Nene's Husband brought up the vtuber community as a whole, not just Hololive. He wonders if it will go the way of the bronies and furries right? I think furries are a completely different set of things so I largely ignored that. My post was somewhat meant to accomplish two things. One is showing that, yes, there is valid concern, because I believe the brony and vtuber phenomenon are very similar and you can maybe glean a bit of insight from the earlier fandom. However, my second point (and the reason I wrote that autistic spoiler section about brony history) is that the perception of the brony fandom is skewed unnaturally towards the same common kneejerk reaction that people have towards vtuber fans, and that 'going the way of the bronies' is actually not that bad, because they are still around, and that at least tells me they are still invested in their hobby. I also did state some extremely general thought/joke at the end that vtubers will grow, until they don't, and then it will just fluctuate until it maybe dies (the last gosling). I can't predict the end state of vtubing so that's why it was so general.

I'm not certain, but I think we disagree about something and I'm not entirely sure what it is as I write this lmao. Because I agree that people are only interested because of the personality of their chosen vtubers, but I think the interest in vtubers in general leads people to more vtubers they like, thus keeping them in the space for future product consumption

I saw that Pekora had picked up There Is No Game and it reminded me that Ame's playthrough from last year is so good it's worth revisiting for the entire five hours. I consider it to be perfect non-autism bricks solo VTuber gaming: Bowson starts out her usual cynical gamer self, becomes frustrated, triumphs, gets into the zone, to then surprise herself by crying floods of tears at the unexpected plot progression, and ends up completely invested to the end with an urgency to get there she rarely displays:

It's an example of Amelia Watson at her best as a solo performer, the game's warm humour tickles her flippancy away, and it's one of the very few times I can recall where she humbly accepts chat's help without any sort of fuss (!!!) so visibly vested she becomes in beating this game that isn't there.

It's also one of her performances where you'd totally risk the dead arm you'd receive trying to give her a little platonic celebratory kiss at the end. If for whatever reason you never got what all the fuss was about with Watson, this slow burning VoD illustrates it well. Her little pause at the emotionally devastating title drop line hits exactly as the creator intended, written large across her changing expression: recognition, realisation, and then wham... right in the feels.

As a little subnote: Gura played the game while ill, and didn't have a good time at all. It's one of a tiny handful of her VoDs you can safely skip. I imagine Pekora adored her own playthrough, as meta-games have become one of her favourite things in the past year or so. A delighted Peko is Best Peko, but me no-speaky the Japanese well enough to screen the whole thing.

I think we agree overall I just tend to get fixated on specific lines people say somewhere in the middle of the whole point they make. That's kind of my own personal quirk I'm sure bothers the fuck out of people.

Fandoms are weird, just look at how vt has pcg and pcghex.

For Hololive you can slice the fandom up along lots of lines, the one you mentioned but also before Gen 3 and after is a huge change shifting to the idol route. I think Niji and Holo having such different ideas of what vtubers can be plus all the other corps having unique or copycat identities, comparing them to just a game franchise or show is a bit small. They are more like animation studios

Is there anything in Watame's PL about being a drummer? These are some clean and even rolls

Also she is beating the shit out of this drum

Bonus

Edit:I don't think Haachama has ever sounded better than this in a karaoke.

I think it's just a matter of perspective regarding specific products within the industry vs the industry as a whole. Maybe.

It might bother some people but I'm not the least bit bothered by it, because picking specific points or arguments is the way to get down to the root of certain points of view, and that will usually lead to people examining and explaining why they believe what they are saying. That, or they will just turtle up and try to deflect so they don't have to actually think about anything. My issue is that I always want to delve into even the smallest of differences and I end up writing immense and autistic posts about stuff most people don't care about lol.
Fellas, why do you love your Oshi?
Brother, how can I choose between Gura and Ame? Gura is so funny, and she's a sweet and humble little shark who sincerely appreciates everything she has. Ame is AMEzing in the way she tries her best to always make things interesting, and it's no secret she firmly supports everyone she can, whenever she can, with her generous heart. I could never choose between them, but I'll do whatever I can to support them both.

Something I didn't realize until Vox made a stream on it; a bunch of his fans made a birthday fanzine for him, even with fucking puzzles like a crossword in it. And yes, it has an NSFW version, which probably says a lot.

How could I not?

The fact we'll never see an Enna/Melissa collab/cover feels like a fucking tragedy. Hope they can at least do something with whatever Melissa decides to be as an indie.

I'd put an asterisk on that for the time being, because Enna is lining up multiple covers to premiere during her one month break and it's possible that one of them might be Melissa.

:optimistic:

How can you not love nene? She's the perfect best friend/Imouto experience (or gfe if you are into that shit you freakos), she's cute, she's funny, she's pon and she's got the energy of 20 fusion reactors on overdrive, the model was made by her talented and degenerate mama. Nene is everyone's oshi even if they don't want to admit it, because everyone is a husband in the end.
