I remember they switched the names 3 times, and that it was a marketing failure, but why was it a marketing failure in the first place, other than India literally having no interest in VTubers back in 2020?

Having a model doesn't necessarily mean that scouts are 'pulling from the V-Tuber sphere' except for Lyrica and Kaito, who were pretty much ONLY V-Tubers playing a character. The only reason I'd qualify Pearl isn't because he was established as a V-Tuber over an Utaite, but because he was part of Hanamori.

So with that, of Ethyria, Luxiem, and Noctyx, only 4 of the 14 members were V-Tubers. I don't count the others for the same reason I wouldn't count Pokimame as a V-Tuber if she joined Holo/Niji.

That's literally the answer. No domestic market to justify them. Their most popular member was the person who only applied to be their manager and ended up part of the group as well.

However, Uki Violeta accidentally leaked a rehearsal stream of his debut a few days prior to Noctyx coming out, and some of the staff names in his live chat were Indian, which lends credence to the rrat that NijiIN — or at least Noor — simply assumed a managerial spot on NijiEN after graduating.

Vihaan and Aadiya would often stream in english, as did Noor, so they switched from NijiIN to NijiEN. Then after a while nijisanji became more serious about the future debut of lazulight, so they changed them again back to NijiIN. Noor's concurrent viewers used to be around 100 or so per stream, with Aadiya and Vihan having 50 to 20 at times. They just never picked up and management never pushed or advertised them much either.

Imagine having a 2view failure from India be your manager? EN's management as a whole seems utterly imbalanced. Mysta says he's not allowed to share adult content, meanwhile Uki and Pomu are liking pics of them getting barebacked on social media. It's inconsistent.

You'd think with 1/4 of the planet's population spread across the Indian subcontinent they could muster 100K nerds? If you could pry them off of the chess sites first, that is. Strong initial attackers, no midgame though, zero vision of their own backlines. It's like they all learn the game from the same book.

I was going to say "maybe it's an internet access issue?" but then I remembered that Pakistan entering the Information Era and shooting up demand for incest themed porno out of the blue happened around the time VTubing was still nascent in gdgd Fairies and the like.

I certainly think that a lack of ability to capture the market was also an issue as we saw it with KR too. The hands-off management approach wasn't really working outside of NijiJP.

Susan's algorithm suggested me this video of some small vtuber called Marko Yamashita analysing Mikeneko's avatar in best armchair psychologist manner that most shizo saviorfags would approve. I could not watch the whole thing because I had the feeling that I was constantly losing brain cells while watching it (it's 25 min long). He's worrying about her mental health (diagnosing bipolar disorder) and pointing out that she member-tiers are not worth the money and feel predatory. Like charging ton of money while not providing much/any content (in comparison to Ayamy, Mel's mama).
The funny thing is he got backslash from both sides (simps and antis) for the video and already turned of the comments when I found it. I can't tell to which camp he belongs to if I'm honest.

as for the oshi talk, I need to mention nijiEN as well, if only to balance the scales. wasn't the biggest fan at first but the feesh really grew on me, together with the rest of LL/obsydia. still want to check out most of ethyria, but there's simply not enough time.

she did a "send me your oshi vids" stream a few days back on twitch, was hilarious when people were sending her her own debut video. the next stream was a FNAF collab with lia, which they then dropped and started watching videos about objectophilia, only for both getting blocked by youtube three times before moving to twitch.
