The VOD is up here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1478219116

The audio has some really bad "popping"/cutting out issues. I thought it was just my stream or my browser when watching live, but the VOD has it too. Makes it kinda hard to listen to unfortunately, but I'm going to try… tomorrow.

I did download it with yt-dlp too, at full 1080p, in case the VOD disappears.
All right, I've listened to the whole thing, shitty audio and all. Much of it was while driving so forgive me for not taking precise notes, and I never really paid attention to Cyberlive before Yuri and Lumi jumped ship to PC so I might be filling in some of the history a bit wrong, but here's a gist.

I'll lead with this since Yuri repeated it many times: She does not harbor any ill will towards any other former CL streamers and doesn't want to see anyone else being harassed. She apparently squashed whatever beef there was as a result of the leaked Discord screenshot and doesn't want to see any fans of hers harassing anyone else in there. She places the blame for the problems at Cyberlive solely at the feet of management and of the person who was the manager for Gen 1 for most of the time she was there.

It turns out that Cyberlive was not a new company; it was in fact a rebranding of a previous company whose talent all did a mass walkout, with much if not all of the same management in place. Management misled about this fact when forming the company and recruiting Gen 1.

Yuri had particular frustrations with her manager, who had lied about her age and level of experience; she believes the manager was no older than 19, and likely only 18, when the company started. Furthermore, the manager often lied about what things were happening, such as leading on her employees to believe things like artist commissions or communications with merch manufacturing companies were happening, when in fact very little such coordination was happening if it was happening at all - so basically the manager was being lazy about actually doing her job and lying about it. This mean that Yuri and other talents often had to commission these things themselves, out of pocket.

Eventually this manager went on a Christmas break in December of last year and just kind of never came back; she would still appear in Twitch chats, but not actually respond to emails or other "professional" communication at all. This is what led Lumi to step up as an unofficial Gen 1 manager until she was officially appointed to the position and the previous manager was fired, apparently nearly highjacking social media accounts and the like in the process.

Other complaints Yuri had about management (and not just that manager in particular) was that they seemed to be foolish at handling money; money would sometimes be allocated to future projects before they were ready, and before artists had been paid off for past projects and such. She and Lumi also didn't approve that management was recruiting Gen 3 members already even while Gen 1 members were not getting things that they had been promised - they felt like management was more interested in getting new toys than maintaining the talent they already had. Managers would also shit-talk about and dox talents to other talents (which kinda surprised me; I always figured agency talent knew each others' roommates quite well behind-the-scenes, but apparently that's not always intended to be the case, at least not in CL) and had no hesitation in playing favorites.

Yuri and Lumi were originally not that close in Cyberlive, but grew closer as they communicated about management's misdeeds and eventually mutually decided that one would leave if the other did also, and that the pros of leaving outweighed the cons. She thinks the manager brought on to replace Lumi was a great improvement and the other managers might have smarted up as well but it was too little, too late.

Despite all this, she stated a couple times she didn't think Cyberlive was a "black company" - she didn't explicitly state it but I think because she didn't want to attribute to maliciousness what could better be attributed to incompetence and inexperience on the part of the management. Fortunately, that management incompetence meant she and Lumi got to keep her models and identities after leaving.

She had nothing but good things to say about PC management and said she found it refreshing to see her managers actually managing.

I'll add that I had previously taken Yuri for kind of an airhead from what I've seen of her previously - maybe it's the voice - but she actually seems fairly smart and plainspoken. Hope she gets those audio issues fixed, though.

TL;DR: CL was ruined by incompetent and inexperienced management. It started to get better when Lumi and Yuri gave their notice, but by then it was too late. She wants us to be kind to other former CL streamers, and put that leaked screenshot behind us, as she has. She's really happy with PC so far.

Chinese state media outlet Global Times has published an article on vtubers on their english language website. https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202205/1265059.shtml

It's fairly generic, way fucking better than western articles I've seen on the topic, and touches a bit on the parasocial otakus donating tons of money. Mentions Okami Mio briefly and a few others I'm not familiar with. Also mentions a lawsuit where the talent alleged attacks on the vtuber character were attacks on the person behind it.

Doesn't go into detail about stuff I was expecting like the recent limits in China on livestream viewing for minors or any bilibili or youtube stuff - but I also don't know a ton about that topic anyway so *shrug*.

Just thought you guys might find it interesting. I'm thankful it's not a full out hit piece on vtubers in general even if it focuses on the high amount of money made by more popular vtubers.

After reading @Least Concern's post, I went back to reread that leaked Discord screenshot from CL, and I must say that shit was much more petty than I remembered it being. Obviously, no one outside the situation should be stupid and go off trying to confront these retards about their exposed character flaws, but I'll never have a good word to say about them if for some reason I see anyone asking if someone in that group chat is worth watching. Yuri says she squashed whatever beef was there right? That's pretty great and I commend her for that. I'd like to know what exactly it was, but seeing something like that leak is very damaging to my perception of those individuals as people in general. I mean they were literally in there saying Lumi was just 'fake' and they, as vtubers that get money from people, were making fun of the people donating to her. The number 1 way to lose all of my respect is to be a petty, two-faced lunatic.

So the holy trinity of vtuber CEO's who became the true waifu wranglers is Yagoo, Tazumi and Fishman "Hippity Hoppity your talent is now my property" Sakana?
Where does Gyari fit in this pantheon?

Susan's algorithm suggested me this video of some small vtuber called Marko Yamashita analysing Mikeneko's avatar in best armchair psychologist manner that most shizo saviorfags would approve. I could not watch the whole thing because I had the feeling that I was constantly losing brain cells while watching it (it's 25 min long). He's worrying about her mental health (diagnosing bipolar disorder) and pointing out that she member-tiers are not worth the money and feel predatory. Like charging ton of money while not providing much/any content (in comparison to Ayamy, Mel's mama).
The funny thing is he got backslash from both sides (simps and antis) for the video and already turned of the comments when I found it. I can't tell to which camp he belongs to if I'm honest.
He added this to the despriction:
POST Publishing update! You can thank all the hateful antis, trolls and unhealthy obsessed Mikeneko fans for me having to shut down the comment sections. Sad enough you decide to show your own selfishness and openly attack me on Twitter, but then to come deface my video here because you're more concerned about keeping her in your life instead of her straightening hers out is appalling. And for the love of God, perhaps you should let HER say, "thanks for the advice but I don't want to listen to it" instead of your whiny "You can't tell her that! wah wah wah!" For people that acknowledge that she can make her own choices, you sure like making them for her. It's almost like YOU want to control her or something. To all Nekofami (fans of Mikeneko), please hear me out. This video is vitally important. For the sake of Mikeneko's mental health and wellbeing, and to understand all pitfalls she's setting herself up for, please consider watching this video from beginning to end. I break down everything, in detail, including her mental health. By watching this video, you will get an understanding of where she's at mentally and why she NEEDS to be encouraged to take care of her mental health FIRST, before pushing on with her career.
I only watched like 30 seconds, but looking at his past videos he looks like he's pro-RushiNek. Schizo-analysis aside he kinda has a point. Her two biggest demographics at this point seem to be yes-men and obsessive antis so I can see where he's coming from, especially given the last few days.

I was looking for this clip the other day, thank you.
Also, about holoÑ, I just hope we don't have an overload of spaniards in the group. I can't stand the accent.
I don't mind the accent. What I hate is how dry their personality feels. I'm guessing its cultural but I find that Spaniards behave like the French in that they are a bit stuck up and no-nonsense. Argentinians are cunts also. For the most part everyone else is fine. At first I hated the Mexican accent but with time i got used to it, and their humor is probably the best.

As a latino myself, i hope HoloES never fucking happens, spanish speakers are like SEAniggers but hornier, i don't think i could ever watch a vtuber who speaks spanish anyways, would just make me cringe to death, specially if it's some fucking mexican, spaniard or argentinian with a thick fucking accent.
Also spanish really doesn't lend itself well to loli/kusogaki style characters since it's hard to have a squeakier voice without souding ridiculous, most spanish speaking women would fare better with a hag/oneesan style character, spanish gura gives me nightmares.
Maybe check out Hina from WACTOR (I stopped watching due to the WACTOR drama but she's not bad). Hana Yomeguri is an independent (at least I think she is) and she's not bad either, has 100k subs in less than 3 months. My main issue is that most of their content tends to rely on just reacting to viewer-submitted clips which is extremely low effort.

Reimu from NijiEN did a spanish collab with Hina back when Hina had more subs than her.

Here you go. Not sure about her background but she seems like a hafu and I believe she did live some time in the west accent seems mexican. 4000 concurrent viewers watching her screaming while playing this.

I don't know much about this one but she has 117k subs and has been streaming for about 5 months. Tomboy model.

How many times have she beat fnaf security breach? I’m glad there’s a fnaf autismo vchuuba, for I enjoy fnaf insanity.
Only once from what I remember. The last time I saw her play it she was stuck on the end boss trying to get the true ending. She couldn't get past because the game was so poorly made that it was impossible for her to win. She had to reload a different save to get a different ending.

"No, that's gay, I'm married to chat."

Like I said before, the rare vtuber willing to come out as hetero.

Cat witch Michiru has finally made it to Gwyn in Dark Souls and seem to only wanting a parry only run. Needless to say there have been many deaths.
She's reading all English chats and talking back to them. Her English is much, much better than I thought it was.
