This is some power level anecdote but I actually had a boss who has Gout. He would clear his throat and Snort as well. I know. I know. It wasn't Phil because the guy showed up to work. Cane and all because he couldn't walk on a gouty foot.

I think it's to push away people who have standards. People with standards are harder to manipulate into wasting huge amounts on a streamer who does less than the expected amount of effort. If someone is willing to tolerate those noises, they're less likely to question the absurd things he blurts out.

(Fuck no I'm not going to watch at double speed for half an hour to make sure it's low on this type of behavior though, I watched this shitty stream live, I don't need to see it again.) Supposedly this sponsored review has a minimum, if not outright abscence of, the usual throat clear/pig snorts, so it's the most recent example I can think of regarding the phenomena you're discussing. Whether Phil can or can't control the gross sounds into a turned up mic isn't even the point, he can always mute or lean out away from the mic through autistic rocking he does anyway while he snorts and hacks, he just doesn't bother to be polite, instead of rude, to the audience, but the paypigs get off on that anyway you figure too.
Admittedly I dont know too much about gout other than what I've learned from people here and on detractor channels but phil was doing all the snorting years before ever developing gout. Maybe if its like slow developing and he had it all along or something that would help his case but even that doesn't explain the burping. He supposedly doesn't have any control over the burping either so would that be a byproduct of gout also? He was burping throughout his early videos too along with the snorting.
