Nothing makes Ralph seethe more than a woman with conviction who looks at him, sees he's disgusting and immediately and permanently refuses to have anything to do with him.
I think his obsession with Nora and Faith isn't necessarily out of love, but more out of an extremely hurt ego because THEY dared to leave HIM! Both Faith and Nora stood up for themselves and said they would not tolerate his abuse anymore and it makes him rage. Nothing hurts a man like Ralph more than rejection from women, inside he still has an incel mindset.

we all know people who are stupid as fuck in addition to being incredibly ugly, but they make up for it by being kind or hard working or whatever. May is a terrible person in addition to the disadvantage of her looks and intellect, she chose to be that way. Ralph is not that into her. He would have married her before the baby was born if he liked her at all, and seems to spend most of his time trying to be away from wherever may happens to be. They probably keep each others dirt archived somewhere so it is like nuclear powers refusing to go to war to avoid mutually assured destruction.

Yeah, I was half-expecting her mom to look like a dude, but I guess May just received the worst assortment of genetics out of the family (at least externally). It's depressing. That had to've played into her insecurities growing up and caused her to latch onto "thinness" as being her one desirable trait.
