Their markets have now pretty much stabilized, with the ruble being above pre-war levels despite all of the sanctions, and they're not the ones facing dramatically higher food and gas prices. I understand it perfectly fine. What I don't get is how the EU Marshal Planning them out of their post-WP funk with generous loan rates is an impediment to their prosperity. It appears to be quite the opposite. Economic growth in Poland has been giving them a broader tax base to draw from and keeping their credit score up. It built their industry to drive their economy while also creating a middle-class of consumers to buy products imported from the Eurozone. This strengthened the EU as a whole because it was in nobody's interest to have a weak basketcase Poland. It is so simple a layman can understand it.

Belarus, on the other hand, had no such assistance. Instead it got more of the same autocratic top-down extractive economy as it's leaderships main goals are the security of the state and keeping the country staunchly in their benefactor Russia's camp. Who is allowed to be rich and powerful has everything to do with their loyalties and little to do with their business acumen. Where keeping the people unable to economically prosper makes them more reliant on the state and less likely to upset the status quo.

And, yes, I am aware that what I described does exist in the west to some extent. But it is way WAY worse over there. This is how their entire society operates. Why Arabs Lose Wars kinda shit.

At least the Kharkiv front is dying down significant with the successful Ukie counterattack or Russian withdrawal. Either way supplies to Kharkiv being able to be more focused on civil aspects instead of military aspects is always a good thing. Many times famine during war kills more civilians than the actual military action.

The Russian intent in Kharkiv seems to be to keep a 8-9km buffer zone from the Russian border, and defend Ruski Tyshky and surroundings. Most villages now will have to be pried away from the Russians, or the UAF has to show up with enough force that they determine it's not worth it and just leave.

Now, the UAF crossing the Kharkiv part of the Seversky Donets seems to be a real possibility. If they want to harass the Russian advances in Izyum and force them to redirect manpower, that's the best place to do it in my opinion. But honestly there's no great options from here on out, because river crossings are dangerous in even the best conditions, and there's only one bridge through so pontoon bridges would have to be deployed. Harassing the Russians out of Kharkiv completely is also possible, but the Izyum front is really way more pressing right now.
