Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The thing with Rogue One is that I really would like to know the full story on what happened and see the film Edwards originally intended to make and based on the clips we saw did in fact make. What fuckery did they pull and what was changed.

Just go back and look at that first trailer for it that had the rebel pilot prisoners being led through the streets and scenes of beach combat with that big white furred alien. What was that film?

They never will release a behind the scenes book because the true story of what happened cant be revealed.

Rogue One is certainly the best Disney Star Wars film.

It does have it's issues but it had some neat ideas, interesting set pieces, a few great scenes, and I liked a few of the characters especially when they had them killed off one by one.

Honestly though I feel these anthology type movies would work better if they didn't have characters from the OT play prominent roles which is one of the many issues I had with Solo
Don’t know how unpopular this is, but I would claim Solo as my favorite of the Disney Wars movies. It had a decent energy to it to at least make for a fun sci-fi if nothing else. There was certainly a ton of stupid shit though.

Fans have decided that ‘The Last Jedi’ is actually a pretty good ‘Star Wars’ movie after all
David James - 2h ago

It’s difficult to understate how much anger Star Wars: The Last Jedi generated. Rian Johnson’s hugely-anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens was praised by critics but pilloried by fans upset at the “disrespectful” treatment of Luke Skywalker, the mere presence of Laura Dern’s Admiral Holdo, and complaints about the tactical realism of fantasy space warfare (amongst a thousand other nitpicks).

Thousands of guys with scraggly beards took to YouTube to yell their spittle-flecked fury, several of the film’s stars were chased off social media, and Rian Johnson was pilloried as a hack/fraud/communist/feminazi (delete as appropriate).

Now, four years on from its release, fans have decided The Last Jedi was actually pretty great. There’s a popular thread on r/StarWars reevaluating the movie, with the OP saying that, like many, they “absolutely hated” the movie, but on a rewatch they found a lot to like, praising Luke’s story arc on him rediscovering hope.

Other users agree, saying it was nice to watch a Star Wars movie with an unpredictable plot and saying that it has “gloves off storytelling”. Many also say that in retrospect, the shock factor of unceremoniously killing off Snoke is very fun, though sadly the opportunity to focus on Kylo Ren as the core antagonist was never capitalized on.

Many replies also correctly identify that a big reason why The Last Jedi is seeing a big rehabilitation amongst fans is that it was followed by the truly dreadful The Rise of Skywalker. That film’s story was altered after Lucasfilm got paranoid after The Last Jedi hate, resulting in the boneheaded decision to bring Emperor Palpatine back and retcon Rey to be his granddaughter (neatly undercutting The Last Jedi‘s message that anyone can be a hero).

Here’s hoping Rian Johnson’s long-in-development Star Wars trilogy isn’t completely dead, as we’d love to see him return to a galaxy far, far away.

They just can't let it go, I get that, but this gaslighting is so weird it makes my head hurt.

So some star wars shills on sub reddit that only allows shills, shill for film and it is apparently "The fans."

I don't for a second believe any significant number of fans who hated TLJ have come around on it. I could believe a few have, can't understand why. I would actually be more likely to believe less people like it now because the film falls apart with any scrutiny. The "subverted expectations" thing goes away once you know the film. Then the only reason that works is that it's unimaginative and made you think it was doing the most obvious thing. Only to then subvert.

It also lacks the layers and details the prequels had where you can pick up on various ideas. Even just admire the creativity of the worlds. Separate from the flawed dialogue and acting.

TLJ you watch it the first time, seeing Finn flying around the Pizza ship. A fleet of slow moving cow ships. Somewhat amused. A bit puzzled when he's doing it just by himself. You see the multiple star destroyers doing nothing. Some First Order Admiral going, "why haven't we launched the fighters." Some amusement. You're not really understanding the whole Finn ignoring orders.

Then on the next viewing you, you're aware of everything and how dumb it all is. It gets worse. Not better.

Watching the first time, you're on Finn's side versus Purple hair in a cocktail dress. You're then a bit confused on, "he was wrong?" On the next viewing you know what's happening and purple hair is even more of an asshole. Then you really focus in on Finn was not wrong from his perspective. Even though you saw it the first time, you really notice how badly written his story is. Everything from his perspective shows he was right, but he makes the wrong conclusion because of bad writing.

Well good for him, but hey at least I know what show I won't be watching lke I'm catching up on some of the Star Wars shows out of curiosity since I watched Bad Batch (which was really bad except for the stuff with the Sniper and Empire worldbuilding), will watch Mandalorian and Obi Wan show via piracy, not touching Book of Boba Fett like the plague.

Because it would expose how horrible the incompetence of Alan Horn and Kennedy's management was.

The one responsible for handling the behind the scenes coverage and documentaries at Lucasfilm for ages was JW Rinzler, but they "let him go" and put a legal muzzle on him after his behind the scenes documentary book of The Force Awakens proved to be too telling and problematic for their tastes, so they cancelled it along with him along with any chance of him telling anyone about what happened after Rogue One, and sadly we'll never know just how messed up everything was because Rinzler died from a tragic fight with cancer last year, with the only copy of his pdf of the Disney-Lucasfilm transition either being lost among his files or kept safe by his kids who are too scared to release it due to that, as their father made clear, the legal doom Disney would overwhelm them with would be too great.

It feels like Star Wars is run by two groups now: Circle jerking Filoni who has turned Star Wars into his childish fanfiction, and the "woke" tards that is all about putting their gay politics into something they could never make. The absolute state of Star Wars....

Since Obi might end with the Black chick being the hero, what the fuck is going to happen with "Ahsoka"?

The woke are just on the side with books and other paraphernalia. Filoni and his fans run the modern SW bloc, and since it has become the new MCU/Game of Thrones. Shit, some people who used to watch Game of Thrones are now big Filoniverse fans. And since these new shows are a great new marketing opportunity for Disney (LOL action figures) they're here to stay.

I thought cgi Tarkin and Leia were horrifying, and digital necromancy should be outlawed.
I think Carrie saw RO before she died and said she was ok with it but it weirded her out.
Rick Worley returns!
I just started this video but I'm glad Rick is bringing attention to the different versions of the OT.

It's crazy when you realize how many times the OT (and the PT) have been changed over the years. There's no "true" version of the OT, just version with more or less changes. That's why people complaining about not getting the "unaltered" version of the OT on blu ray never made sense to me. Depending on when and where you saw ANH, ESB, and ROTJ, parts of those films are radically different. They just want what they remember from their individual childhoods in an attempt to recapture that feeling that they can never have again.

Also Disney is never going to put out a non-SE version of the OT. Kathleen would never do it. It's been 10 years, people need to move on. Not only that, but the special editions are canon to the rest of the franchise and changing them would fuck some things up (not that Disney cares, but still).

Another Filoni fuckfest....I can't wait. It's taken Ahsoka showing up in 2 shows when she has no reason to be there before she got her own. Dave's stupid waifu has completely hijacked the franchise, and the fanboys love it. Getting to have sex with Rosario Dawson in costume has to be worth it though.

Well you are the first person I've seen who claims to like the film, pretty much everyone I know hated it, I personally didn't like it but I'll admit I liked the "trench warfare" scene and would have loved to see a film about imperial troopers battling rebels and shit, too bad Disney would never make a film like that.

Very good and informative video. The video introduced me to an unusual version of Yub Nub at the end.

English (Basic) lyrics

Freedom, we got freedom;
And now that we can be free,
Come on and celebrate.

Power, we got power;
And now that we can be free,
It's time to celebrate.

Celebrate the freedom;
Celebrate the power;
Celebrate the glory;
Celebrate the love.

Glory, we found glory.
The power showed us the light,
And now we all live free.

*Celebrate the light; (Freedom!)
Celebrate the might; (Power!)
Celebrate the fight; (Glory!)
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.

Glory, we found glory.
The power showed us the light,
And now we all live free.

*Celebrate the light; (Freedom!)
Celebrate the might; (Power!)
Celebrate the fight; (Glory!)
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.

Solo is weird in that you can definitely sense the styling of the original directors, which were the ones from The LEGO Movie and many comedy films. I think the that aspect shines through pretty well in Solo as it definitely feels like a more comedy heavy Star Wars film from what I remember. I think a comedy Star Wars can work in a way that isn’t TFA cringe, MCU humor, and I think Solo had pieces of that. The main issue with Solo was Disney kicking directors off because queen Kathleen no like humor unless shat out by JJ. It also suffers from Disney injecting lore shit into it such as the Solo name and the Darth Maul reveal.

I think the movie has a heart much like Rogue One. It wanted to be a fun buddy space film where Han Solo goes on a crazy adventure. When it is that, it works. The issue is that the studio dealt their hand and fucked with production.

I honestly feel bad that of all the Disney Wars movies, this was the one that tanked it, as it was honestly better than the rest.

You know, I grew up in hillbilly country with a large feather-Indian mix family that handled wolf/coyote-dogs that the local shelters couldn't have.

I am utterly convinced that Dave Filoni has more wolf paraphernalia than my entire extended family combined. I mean it's absurd. Dude puts more wolves into his stories than my tribal hunting ancestors.

His obsession is more than a little unhealthy, as @The Gangster Computer has documented extensively. If he doesn't want to fuck wolves, he wants to be a wolf (and then fuck wolves). He is a wolfaboo through and through, like a grown-up version of that kid you knew in school that unironically wore three-wolf moon shirts.

One can only wonder what's stored on Dave's hard drives. I honestly don't know which would be worse to find: wolf porn or Ahsoka jailbait. Oh wait, I do know: Ahsoka jailbait wolf porn. Eugh.

If anything would get Furloni kicked out of Lucasfilm, it'd be that. Disney may be throwing in with the woke crowd more lately, but they at least need to try to maintain a family-friendly image. Having one of the higher-up creatives get busted for being a zoophile/pedophile freakshow would not go over well, and he'd get yeeted out the door faster than he could howl.

But that'd be what he'd get for not having normal, healthy fetishes. Like Twi'leks.
