I can see his argument but damn is it a stretch. My personal take on trans laws is that they shouldn't remove your right to do dumb shit to yourself once you're old enough to join the military and smoke. I think Texas child abuse is a bit too far for most parents but it could genuinely end up as a sort of belief based abuse: a mom forcing her son to become a woman since she has a violent hatred of men, a lesbian forced to be a man to be accepted as "fixed" by her family. It's close to religous abuse without an organized religion.

But that's not the point. The point is that he needs to stop fucking screaming the world is ending and needs to calm the fuck down. There's likely going to be legal back and forth on all of this in a slow legislative process, and even with sites like this trans sympathy is mich higher than it was 20 years ago. He also needs to realize that not every anxious person manages anxiety with drugs, some do therapy - and some gender dysphoric people will decide not to transition and treat it in other ways. We need more options.

They are destroying functional, healthy bodies, surgically mutilating them, sometimes in experimental ways, for people who have mental illness. Doctors can take thousands from people who are admittedly not in the right mind and cut up their bodies, hmmm lets' take some arm and leg tissue from here (phalloplasty) hmm lets take some intestine or invert your penis. BTW you will probably have to endure pain and revisions for the rest of your life, and have no sexual satisfaction. NO REFUNDS! How is this ok?

For the more technically minded I've scraped Tony's socials (inc his old reddit account) with snscrape and attached the newline-delimited JSON output. (It's a tar.gz file but I appended .txt to make the uploader accept it.)

If you know your way around JSON it's pretty straightforward to find all his photos and videos -- I may extract the links later and post them so you can just feed them into curl or something.

Upon re-reading this AM what I wrote last night, I feel like I totally deserve the disagree ratings. My post reads like I think Tony looks  better now, and that's definitely not the case.

And he may have looked like someone who would "well, actually. . .' me over something stupidly trivial before he trooned out, but he looked  human and doesn't trigger my uncanny valley sensors.

What I think I was trying to say is more that I can definitely see a difference in him pre-FFS and after. How is this ok?

I see it fall under the category of plastic surgery and body modifications. Not all that shit is safe in the slightest, but we haven't outlawed a number of that shit. The tiger man shouldn't have been allowed to go so far to change himself when he needed help, and killed himself due to his mental illness. I see it as a greater fight to figure out what counts as body mods and what counts as too far. I don't think all body mods are healthy or should exist, nor all nonreconstructive or damage preventing (breast reductions and noses that are really hard to breath through) plastic surgeries should either, but we have to figure out where the limit is on that as well.

I think it'd be great if all of these procedures were taken OFF insurance for trans health instead, and focused on say therapy and maybe more research into a drug cure for the extreme (but I think therapy will help a lot more out). If we could turn it all into things you can't do on insurance, the ammarket will falter. It's a compromise that would ideally lead to a domino effect. If you can't get your tiddy skittles and phaloplasty from insurance because the root is mental and not physical that'd yank the rug out of thousands of troon plans and force them to consider alternatives. Ideally, this would be therapy, but there's still stigma against mental health and more support needed to the mental health branch of our healthcare.

Another blow to the system I'd love to see is standardization of amhole and ampole procedures. Why? Because it would mean many, many troons could start suing for malpractice. It would be a benefit to troons' overall health as well as a complete and utter detriment as plastic surgeons would cry over butchery being harder to preform. Pairs fantastically with it being taken off insurance.

I'm offering an imperfect solution for an imperfect world. Stop all surgial and medical modifications for those under 18, rework treatment and remove at LEAST the surgeries from insurance (hormones will be harder to fight until we get more reports of early death and medical disabilities, which we will sadly). Part of the problem is cultural: we're still comparing corrective therapy for homosexuality is the same as corrective therapy for body dsymorphia and a condition more similar to eating disorders.

Attached is a slightly amended tar of the scraped JSON from his socials because I fucked up the Instagram file last time, sorry (it's now all valid JSON). Also attached is a shell script to turn those files into a SQLite database and spit out links to Tony's posted photos and videos. You'll need SQLite, sqlite-utils and jq installed.

I've also included a file of all of those links, so you can download just the files, but if you want to see the relevant post you'll want to create the database. The pictures and videos come to about 1.3GB total.

What internet is he on? 80% of Twitter comments under news stories about trans issues are “TERFs” by his reckoning. Facebook comes down heavily on a lot of language but it’s now populated mostly by boomers either of the liberal or conservative type, and the latter are not exactly trans-friendly. Oh, and do you know what site has a thriving TERF community these days? Fucking Tumblr.

The only place I can think of that has come close to actually eliminating TERFs is Reddit, and even Reddit is constantly dealing with “transphobia” and locking down comments whenever a trans post hits the front page. Not saying that other sites haven’t tried, but TERFs are fucking everywhere as soon as you step out of the little troon bubbles.


Edit: none of this actually means all that much, of course, because extremely online people are such a small proportion of the population overall. But the idea of TERFs actually being banished from the internet (when even the strongest clans of tranny jannies can’t get them off Reddit) is ridiculous.
