Putler might break NATO by just playing the long game.
I’m not sure this guy should be planning a long game of Connect 4 at this point.

Azov published a bunch of photos from beneath Azovstal. They come with a message.

Azovstal: 21-year-old Ekaterina "Bird" told on video that she would "shoot through the knees of everyone who said she would die; she would survive everyone else" and "Mariupol, Ukraine-forever."

This is a rather specific threat.

Like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free
Like a worm on a hook
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee
If I, if I have been unkind I hope that you can just let it go by
If I, if I have been untrue I hope you know it was never to you
Like a baby, stillborn like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me
But I swear by this song and by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch he said to me,
"You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door
She cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"
Oh like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried
in my way
to be free

God bless them all, the long and the short and the tall.

None of that gear is surprising or unexpected, except for "unmanned coastal defense vessels".

I wondered what they're gonna get, so the first google search I did brings up this:
"What American unmanned coastal defence vessels can Ukraine get?"

Seems like with the larger types, it shouldn't be much of a problem to mount fire-&-forget ATGM & SAMs. Ah well, at least now I have another rabbit hole to go down tonight.

People like to claim Reagan beat the USSR via outspending them on defense and in their effort to keep pace they bankrupted themselves. Of course it's more nuanced than that, but your post is 100% on point.

NATO no, but western control over global finance; yeah that's more or less a certainty by now. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

what currency other than the dollar is going to be used
russian rubel? lmao
chinese rmb? before the war i'd have rated that one even less trustworthy than the rubel, now it's maybe slightly higher (mostly due to russia losing trust like crazy) but still pretty low
if you exclude usd, eur and gbp, the next best candidate for global reserve currency would probably be japanese yen

nah lets be real, usd dominance isn't going away. the most realistic successor would probably be the euro, but europeans are cucks and won't push for something like that so it's not going to happen, so people will continue sticking with dollars

didnt say the ruble or event he yuan, just that south america/africa/asia are not going to trust the dollar or euro, or european/american banks enough to use them as a primary reserve anymore.

Holy shit, this takes the Cope of the War award, I fail to see how this can be topped.

For people who don't know what the Carl Gustaf Recoilless Rifle is, it was literally made right after World War 2, and it's modern variants are mainly used to take out APCs at most, and ASB is trying to act like something your grandfather would have used destroying the pride of the Russian tank armory is actually a good thing, then again this is the same guy who said optics are overrated and basically useless.

So he's saying the active protection system that's so excellent no Javelin can get through is also so dumb that it either doesn't recognize an unguided 300 m/s projectile as a threat or somehow can't stop it? I do believe he's got that award locked down.

ETA: Oh, Looks like its this: Shtora-1 Looks like it just blinds IR systems/designator lasers. Won't touch the weapon itself. NLAW appears to be contact or magnetic-proximity fuzed and wouldn't even notice. Javelin uses an IR camera that might be blinded, might not.

Basically, even though there's the possibility said Carl was using more heavy-duty ammo, it's like saying a tank that got destroyed by an RPG-7 is also somehow immune to modern ATGMs. It's impressive too, considering that going by the emoji reactions even the guy's own audience knows he's full of shit on this one.

Also there's evidence that a significant majority of Russian tanks operating in Ukraine have no APS to begin with, even the more modern ones like the T-72B3s

it is dumb as a bag of rocks, there will never be a model or even revision of tank with sustained field experience that doesn't get blown the fuck up more than a few times for this or that reason. Yeah you can mitigate, cope cage, dead batteries... or the obliviousness or panic of the opponent can all save you, but Fuck being a tanker.

Ah, this is so cute. No, really, it is. I'm American, have had family in the military and this is not the military that won WW2, forced Korea into a stalemate, pounded Vietnam during the sixties and very early seventies, executed Desert Storm and deployed to Afghanistan and and Iraq from 2001 to last year, and I'm not even going to mention all the sorties we flew in various NATO excursions. The ability to project force is noticeably diminished and thus, so is the dollar.

This current situation is unsustainable at a time of runaway inflation of the dollar, food supply issues and general societal disintegration in the US. An Empire needs competent and innovative administrators, and we do not have any. Biden is a senile puppet everyone laughs at. Whatever your personal feelings about Putin, he's not senile and doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly.

All empires come to an end, the issue is whether they do so gracefully or abruptly. Europe is going to crash when the US can't sustain itself and project force at the same time, and crash hard. Best be prepared.

China already has HJ-12.

Russia can't reproduce the seekers but might be able to use them to test soft-kill countermeasures.
After the total fucking nothing that vatnik weapons were during this joke of a war I'm thinking chink weapons might be shit too
The fucking victory sign its banned now?
