I don't know what it is about it that rubs me the wrong way, everyone's done nude drawings in some art class at some point in their lives, and I've seen minimally-clothed pictures on dating apps with people showing off their muscular development in gyms, but these pictures that these guys are taking of themselves feel very uncomfortable and out-of-place to look at.

Personally I think there's a key difference between female masculinity and femininity and male masculinity and femininity. I've been on plenty of dating apps (I'm a straight dude) and NEVER seen women post lewds like these guys do. I feel you. PL, but I was shopping for bras today, and most of the images were of sexed-up women covered in makeup, the sort of thing that would be more at place in a softcore girlie magazine. I get that sort of thing at a lingerie store, but I wasn't at Victoria's Secret. I was at Walmart looking at plain, practical undergarments. Again, I'm not the type who goes to a strip club and complains the girls are naked. There's a place for that sort of thing. But it isn't a Walmart. My father spent a few months working on a Christian farming commune as a young man (he's now an atheist and was never extremely religious, he just thought it would be a nice experience for the summer and they were happy to have the help). He said that when he left, after only a little while in a nonsexualized area, it took him aback just how much sexual stuff was plastered everywhere from billboards to movies to music. Being inundated with it in day to day life (keep in mind my father isn't the sort of man to watch pornography; the guy covers his eyes during sex scenes in films. I'm only talking about what he'd see on normal TV or outside the house) he'd never noticed it before. After leaving, the amount of sexualization of things unrelated to sex, particularly in advertisement really stood out to him. Now keep in mind, my father was born in the last few years of the Baby Boomer generation. Things weren't nearly as blatantly sexual when he was a young man as they are now.

I get what you mean about media too. It's a shame that almost every film made for adults has to have a sex scene. I don't have an issue with sex scenes as a concept, but they aren't always necessary. Not everything made for an older audience needs to have sex in it. If I'm going to go to a film with my mother, I don't want to spend five minutes staring at boobs and listening to exaggerated moans. I'd say see things for younger audiences, but sadly, like you mentioned, it isn't always safe from it either. Films during the Hays Code weren't filled with explicit scenes (not that I'm advocating bringing back the Hays Code), yet somehow they still managed to make good films targeted at mature audiences. Who'd've thunk it?

Some may be good at being sexy, others are good at being cute, and others may be a bit boyish, but even the butchest woman will have a decidedly "feminine" way of posing and moving that's nearly impossible to hide. If you go on a dating app, straight women will have photos of themselves with friends or doing things, maybe an angled selfie. That's the norm. Maybe their clothes are sexy if they have a club photo.
