General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Eat the potatoes Mumei.

Artist and context.

I got excited because youtube recommended me a vtuber using a female goblin avatar, but then when I clicked on it, it had a troon voice. I wish there was a way to filter that kind of thing out.

Shark malding over the dessert tier list.
Also she's very excited about her new merch that she's working on

Got equipment for a handcam stream for all the irl-hand-freaks out there
So this month is LazuLight's anniversary, and the next one is Obsydia in July.

That means that, as far as EN goes, June might be a free slot for them to slip in Wave 6. I think they'll probably wait until the end of August instead, though, and give themselves and everyone else that little bit of extra buffer.

It's total new territory now because they're mixed-gender auditions and that means there's even more competition to fill the spots. A 5-6 month gap would have a lot more hype around it too, especially in the heart of summer.
I wonder if HoloEN3 is a thing, they might wait and time the dates after as to not be overshadowed with the excitement that comes with a new hololive Gen

Then again, I don't know how competition really works in the vtuber space.

Sana came dressed for the occasion I see.

I didn't screenshot it fast enough, but someone sent Ame 50 bucks to ask "Do you like Demon Dice?"
People really are faggots.
I see that Pantsu has become a vtuber.

The reason I fell into this at all is because how fresh it felt. There were streamers I've enjoyed watching for a while (Tomato, Jerma, Aris), but I had never seen anything like Pekora and Korone before 2019. Like many people I immediately dismissed vtubers as lame exploitative weeb crap, but a year later something about those two in particular (plus the Coco/Miko clips and Haachama) drew me back into it. They could make anything entertaining, are passionate and dedicated to their content, plus hololive's whole idol model and natural camaraderie between members lent everything this sense of ambition that is lacking in most Western streamers. It's so far removed from what the internet and media in general has felt like since 2014 and it's just so fun to see. Plus watching Japanese women trying to speak English will forever be one of the highest forms of entertainment.

I think @Deluxe's post about oshis and idol culture back during Rushia's termination sums up some of my thoughts

For me it's Polka. Her drive, her creativity, her talent as an entertainer, storyteller and singer, her ability to bounce off any member rivals that of Marine, her sense of humor and comedic timing, her coming off as erudite when she talks about her interests. She just hits so many checkboxes to me. She's in a similar situation as Marine where the fandom hyperfocuses on a small part of their personality, when both of them are some of the most empathetic, sweet and intelligent people in the company.
Also just listen to her fucking voice.
Most of her songs are covers, but she puts so much emotion into each of them.

Yes this post was an excuse to shill Polka. She puts out tons of English subbed content btw. Other chubas I'd consider my favorites are Ui, Marine, Korone, Nene, Botan, Batatvideogames, marimari_en, Subaru, Enna, and Pomu. IRyS, Aki, Lui, meat, Noraneko, Hayama Marin and Pippa are close behind.

Just one more final due on Sunday. I can finally objectively waste my time shitposting in the kiwifarms vtuber and tranch threads again
Haha I see you are passionate about vtubing! I do agree though that seeing a content creator with goals over getting more subcounts is engaging for a viewer. It's nice to see a person grow and hopefully one day meet the goal they put out for themselves. That's something I liked with Kiara, without knowing her past history in idol industry. You saw her as someone who wants to become a idol one day, be part of a concert, and in her mind be famous idol. It was very heartwarming when that goal came to fruition during Holofes this year.
Hm, I didn't know Polka did much English but i'll try to view more clips of her. I do love the clown/circus look on her. if that's what her design is going for. Like a circus entertainer. Actually, I think Polka may have been one of my earlier exposure to Hololive. Cause I recall seeing a clip of her messing around with her 3d model and getting on a ball to walk on it.
I can't find the original but it was something like this.

Apologies for the quality, I found this on Facebook. Someone noticed Kobo was referencing a local university's anthem. Said university is an IT school, and known for having a large weebs population in their student body, one among well-known few. It might be just a false flag tho

Considering she had this yab earlier, I wouldn't peg her as someone who would false flag people.

I don't dislike honeyfox but i don't like her either, the MEN kinda fall into the same category of feeling too much like normal streamers with avatars, kinda like they belong in twitch more than anything else and that really filters me.
The ones i like are Pomu, Selen, Petra's model and rosemi's voice.
