My first thought was Chinese knockoff products.
Even among the lower class, they bring veggie platters to events like funerals, birthdays, weddings, etc, because they are relatively cheap, easy, and fast to make. You just buy a bag of celery, carrots, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, and/or broccoli, some ranch and/or bleu cheese dressing/hummus/onion dip, and then plop it all on a platter. Some places even sell the veggies already prepped to save time and effort of peeling the carrots and slicing them into sticks.I love Euros acting like crudités are not a thing y’all eat. There is nothing wrong with eating raw veggies. Celery sticks, cucumber, carrots and cherry tomatoes are a great snack. Having some hummus or miso dip or whatever is a fine and healthy accompaniment. Deathfats don’t eat veggies unless they come slathered in butter, cream or smothered in ranch.

So. Bowie indeed wasn’t there on that picnic. Cool.
I remember taking a child psych class and they talked about how you can see where a child relates to their position in a family by where they draw themselves. Bowie drew himself pretty much alone and separate
I've read about this. It has been a useful tool to get a picture of a kid's self-image and ideas about their family when they're too young to express themselves. And he's reaching toward the family with both arms while they face outward.I remember taking a child psych class and they talked about how you can see where a child relates to their position in a family by where they draw themselves. I didn’t even catch that, poor kiddoI've read about this. It has been a useful tool to get a picture of a kid's self-image and ideas about their family when they're too young to express themselves. And he's reaching toward the family with both arms while they face outward.
Chasing after mama, arms outstretched, too. A very lonely little boy.I remember taking a child psych class and they talked about how you can see where a child relates to their position in a family by where they draw themselves. Bowie drew himself pretty much alone and separate![]()
And he put the most effort into drawing Rylee. His own figure, and Tess's, are just hasty stick figures; Tess's barely has a face. Rylee, however, not only has pants, but hands and feet, and he's got the cats with him, too—which you'd think Bowie would have drawn next to himself, given that he actually lives with the cats.I remember taking a child psych class and they talked about how you can see where a child relates to their position in a family by where they draw themselves. Not a...psychfag(?) But before we get into overanalyzing every Bowie drawing:
I'm not sure those granular details (dogs, hearts) are relevant. Those are secondary decorative things, and child psychologists tend to focus on how kids draw bodies/faces, sizes of characters, and placement on the page (are they all tiny and crammed in a corner? Is mom enormous and looming over everyone? etc). Stuff like "look, there's clouds over her head, that means sadness" or whatever arent really what they're looking for.
Oh for sure. The art critic in me is sipping a martini and looking forward to his next show.Mom has some thirsty ass hair and her beach ball body is squeezed into a garbage bag outfit. The kid got all the salient details.
I think that that’s because the rylee figure and the cats were the first thing he drew. It’s also rendered differently - no black outlines like on those other figures. Maybe tess saw the drawing of rylee and cats and told Bowie to add the rest of the family. And it almost looks like tess, bowie and the hearts were drawn by someone else. And he put the most effort into drawing Rylee. Interesting.
