It's been a long time since I looked into it, but from what I recall men are disproportionately the victims of random violent assaults, and women are disproportionately the victims of all flavours of sexual assault.

Women are almost always assaulted (sexually or otherwise) by someone known to them --contrary to the popular myth of the rapist behind every blade of grass, stranger crimes of that nature are very rare, probably because they're considerably more risky-- whereas I'd imagine the majority of regular assaults are muggings or gang-related.

At the end of the day, though, trying to have a pissing contest for who has it worse is counterproductive. All forms of assault are unacceptable (unless it's a troon trying to creep into a woman's space, then you should lay that motherfucker out).

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to imply one group had it worse than the other. Just that a lot of women believe women are significantly more targeted with random violence in public, which is not supported by the stats.

Like in my city, a few years ago, some guy was randomly decked in the back of the head with a brick. That type of crime happens very rarely to women. Or one time, I was randomly popped in the mouth by randos on the street. I couldn't eat solid food for a week. Or that shithead who attacked Rick Moranis. Etc, etc. (I know these are anecdotes, not data, but the data is out there.)

There's like a very specific type of shithead who thinks it's funny to do those things, and they seem to prefer men as targets. (Same kind of shitheads who fuck with homeless people.)

(As you note, women are instead subjected to different types of violent crime, particularly sexual crime from people they know.)

If nothing else all of the loud internet transtrenders have made it really easy to know who not to engage with and what communities to avoid.

Basically all of them? My IRL knitting group is the only community I'm in without any trannies themselves, but one of the ladies has a FtM daughter. We don't talk about politics in the group, but I know a lot of them support trannies, because someone posted a link to a crocheted packer in the group! Ugh. I can't think of a single group that I belong to, other than KF, that isn't infested with trannies and wokebros. Maybe one, but only because it's full of old genx and boomers, and niche enough that most people aren't going to be attracted to it.

Why is living as your "true self" the ideal here? Being one's "true self" involves embracing not only what little good you can do, but also the great amount of evil. It's a terrible situation where, in pursuit of this "truth," you descend further and further into the pit until you don't really know who you are. This is why it's best to emphasize your best self, rather than your truest self. Being your "truest self" gives you license to do dumb things like chop your breasts or penis off or gallivant about in public with fetish gear. It doesn't emphasis doing good for the sake of others. It doesn't put us in a mindset of humility and love. Living your "truest life" only makes you selfish and self-centered, while claiming to be good.

Seriously, I don’t know what that nun meant, it’s a pretty core teaching of Catholicism the humans are very flawed. I found this paper pointing out a link between thyroid dysfunction in mothers and higher rates of PCOS, homosexuality, gender dysphoria and autism in their children. I think the "truest self" from a religious context means the Child of God that someone is. Basically living as God intended, in order to be who you already are. For we as people are of God, yet sin has made us dwell in darkness. In short, you're already a person capable of good. You need only realize that and thus unlock your true potential. Not that I fully believe that, but I think that's what the nun was actually going for. Rather than tacitly encouraging this woman to troon-out.
