Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

I'm one of those people who only watched Jim sterling long before the trooning out happened but got bored of his content because it was the same shit over and over again so I hadn't even thought of him much until I saw the featured content headline. I gotta say though, in a way it's strangely comforting to know that there's apparently this many people who looked at the new Jim and went "Oh god eww."
The creator of the Stanley Parable is fucking obnoxious as hell online. He‘s got one of those “UWU So QuIrKy aNd RaNdOm” personalities that could never translate to reality without coming off autistic.
Sounds like the same type of guy as Andrew hussie of Homestuck fame.

Can someone give me the rundown of why Jim lost 100k subs.

Like I know he became trans and didn't bother putting effort into it, but what else?
Jim's content hasn't evolved in years to the point where you could watch something five years ago and it'll likely hit all the same talking points.

Because back before Youtube showed you what a game was like many gamers legitimately depended on journos to tell them what's worthwhile.
This. I remember buying PC Gaming magazines to learn about new games.
During those times my preferred magazine even had spicy opinions and characters, something unimaginable nowadays. And the CDs that were included were a steal, I got CoH2 for pretty much nothing.

Well, trannies are certainly clowns, so that makes sense.

I don't want to go off-topic, but the so-called "video game crash of 1983" is a myth
Still finding people that believed it was a world wide event when it only happened in the US, Japan and Europe did not even knew or felt the consequences (and Brazil too for some reason)

They also forget Nintendo was saviours only during the NES era, they came very late during the 16 bits era where they got beaten by the PC engine and the mega drive, Sonic literally forced Nintendo to bring the Super to the states because they wanted to keep milking the NES for more years

Did he really lob off Lil Jimmie?
No. Jim has openly said he loves having a penis and wants to keep it. He wants to be trans, not a woman. If anyone tells you that no one fakes being trans, Jim will forever remind you of reality.
100k subscribers is more a blow to his fat ego - dunno if he started putting ads on the Jimquisition, or if he’s pushing out any other content these days. When I watched his videos, he was adamant about not generating ad revenue for whatever reason. What a fucking dumbass.

I would like to see the Patreon take a large hit. Seems like he has a number of pay pigs who double down when he starts taking losses. Jim would not piss on his best friend if he/she/it were on fire. He doesn’t give a single, solitary fuck about anyone and only uses people so he can buy gay action figures.

Digital Homicide was a mistake
He was adamant about not having ads on Jimquisition because his Patreon is supposed to cover that content in terms of cost. It's honestly one of the only morals he hasn't completely abandoned. But make no mistake, it is mostly out of ego. The rest is perfectly on point.

They weren't even saviours during the NES era. Regardless of whether Nintendo had entered the North American video game market in 1985 or not, the video game industry would have been just fine. Atari's follow-up console, the 7800, sold reasonably well and in a timeline without the NES would have sold much better. Sega's Master System (which from a technical standpoint was a superior system to the NES, by the way) would also have still existed.

Even the Atari 2600's demise is greatly exaggerated. In fact, it continued to sell reasonably well up until the end of the decade, just at a heavily discounted price. It became the system that the poor kid who lives in a trailer would get for Christmas. The last Atari 2600 was produced in 1992 - that's nearly a decade after the supposedly fatal blow delivered to it in 1983. Most consoles today would be lucky to have a production run that long. So even after the "crash", the Atari 2600 was still profitable to manufacture and sell, it just wasn't as profitable as when it was new, which... should be kind of obvious?

So to recap, it only affected North America, it only affected the console market, it only affected one company within that market, and it didn't even affect that company fatally. So the "great video game crash of 1983" was, in reality, "the great Atari financial downturn of 1983". Considerably less impressive, in my opinion.

The history of the crash has been warped, people still think the NES and SNES were the leading systems in Europe just because of Nintendo's cult following. You have people who have no idea that games could be copied by using a cassette tape player because they used to come on that format in europe and that's what lead to their popularity.

In the Mad at the internet stream Null pointed out Jim's viewership had already been declining before he officially trooned out but he got a small bump in subscribers when he made his top 10 games of the year list probably cause it was a video where he was talking about videogames again.

Like others said Jim's content had begun to get stale for a long time now but I get the impression that his trooning out was basically the last straw for people who were still hanging on in the hope his content would get entertaining again.

In all the retro stuff I read people in Yurop is more fondly of their computers like the Spectrum and Sega consoles and not Nintendo stuff

Brazil still to this day claim Nintendocucks are exaggerating and the master system was better in that time

I wonder who told Jim that trooning out would help his channel in any way or form
