Zsusza and Steve are a great rabbit hole if you are into fundie-watching. She has a blog, which I won't link here to avoid her or her husband causing issues for Null, but you can find it by googling her name. It's crazy because she can go from writing about cooking everything from scratch using all organic ingredients or making elaborate crafts for her kids to saying that homosexuals and adulterers should get the death penalty in the space of a couple paragraphs. You'll be reading along like, "Oh, wow. This is nice. How wholesome!" and out of nowhere, you'll get hit with something that makes you say, "Wait. What the fuck?!" Actually, she doesn't say "homosexuals", she says "faggots", and she is VERY proud of the fact that her kids have been taught to do the same. She wrote once about her preschool-aged child saying that a gay couple were "faggots" while they were out and about, and she was absolutely overflowing with pride.

Her husband Steven is a piece of work himself. He once got his ass beat by a border patrol agent (they live in Arizona) after goading the guy with his "sovereign citizen" routine. The video of it is floating around on the Internet, and for a guy who would like to execute faggots, he sure does squeal like a little girl.

They met in Munich in the early 1990s. Steven, a recent high school graduate, was "soul winning" (i.e. screaming at passers-by about how they were going to burn for eternity) on a street corner when she walked by. She is Hungarian but grew up in East Germany, and at the time she met Steven, she was a secular liberal and attended university. Somehow she was captivated by Steven, which is particularly mind-blowing if you watch videos of his "preaching". His style is...unique and confrontational.

Anyway, like I said, they are a great rabbit hole. Zsuzsanna OBVIOUSLY wears the proverbial pants in their marriage, despite being skirts only, and their dynamic is really interesting to observe for interested outsiders. Her only redeeming quality that she thinks the Duggars are apostates. She particularly loathes Josh and thinks he should get the death penalty, so at least she has that much in common with the Farms.

Yes. Her three elder sons, Solomon, Isaac, and John, were part of a group text message chat with other teenagers from their church. The parents of one of the girls found the messages and notified the parents of the other participants because the content of the messages was incredibly disturbing. This FundieSnark post, which is itself a decent overview of the whole scandal, says that the mother of one of the girls initially discovered the messages by accident, but as I remember it, the girl went to her parents after she was upset by the explicit nature of the conversation. Specifically, I recall that she was bothered by Isaac Anderson's "joking" about raping an underaged female acquaintance, but I could be misremembering all of this. At any rate, one set of parents found out and archived the text message thread, then informed the other parents.

Together, the group of parents brought the messages to Steve's attention as both the head of the "church" where all the participants were members as well as the father of the boys responsible for the most problematic messages. He basically told them to fuck off because he had dealt with the issue (by beating the shit out of his sons) and there was no need to discuss the incident further. In a sermon which was secretly recorded, Steve stated that anyone who brought up the text message incident again would be formally excommunicated from his church. This prompted the group of parents to make the archived conversation public.

The archived chat is almost 500 pages long, and the content is absolutely vile. The discussion includes fantasizing about praying for prostitutes so that they can use tax-exempt church funds to pay for sex, raping unconscious women and girls, and forcing their future wives to abort female fetuses. Isaac Anderson appears to be the perpetrator of the most disturbing messages, while John openly expresses his horror and disgust for the things his brother is saying. At one point, when Isaac talks about hiring prostitutes for group sex, John chimes in that prostitutes are often victims of violence, suggests that the boys could hire one "and just be really nice to show them a good time and give them a break from all the abuse".

Interestingly, John is the one who was sent away after the dust settled. As far as I'm aware, he still lives with Steven's dad in California. Solomon and Isaac moved out of the family home into an apartment.

It was WAY beyond teenage boys being gross. Actually, at several points in the long exchange, multiple other kids tell Isaac that he's crossed the line, though he's not deterred. The stuff he was saying was objectionable even to gross adolescent boys who have to conceal their consumption of pornography and rap music lest they be shunned.

I agree that a call to CPS was likely warranted. I doubt the parents involved were willing to do that, since god only knows what kind of horrors were occurring in their own homes.

Prosecution is demanding a sentence of 30 years to life in prison even though the maximum allowable in this case is 20 years.
Defense wants 5 years and included character letters.
