Kids were doing the blackout thing long before tiktok. It predates the mainstream internet. Was an urban myth that occasionally someone would actually do.

Yeah long before TikTok there was the Choking Game. Even in the Greatest Generation people would try to pass out by blowing on their thumbs.

Me? I prefer to just shitpost on the Farms for too long, stand up suddenly, and enjoy the feeling of not existing for a few seconds.

This woman got shit for stating how if you know you'll give your child a genetic disorder you should not have children. She has limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. This means her shoulders, thighs, trunk and in her case her heart and stomach muscles are wasting away.

I did the marshmallow thing at a summer camp once as part of a game, did better than most. Dunno if it's popular anymore though.

I get her anger, but I think she does come off as a bit harsh. "disabled" is a huge umbrella that includes fairly livable conditions like the most common form of dwarfism and the 'tism (autism in and of itself isn't going to kill you anyway) to serious/terminal conditions like she has.

I think it's one of those things that can only be judged on a case by case basis. If you are a carrier for some kind of horrible fatal disease, then yeah it's cruel to bring a kid into that.

Not right now, but it's been around for years. My dad remembers people trying it at summer camp in the 1960s (though it was mostly younger kids, who though it was funny to talk with food in your mouth).

Those are not the kinds of things she is talking about. Nor the situation.

Pl but I knew a lady who had kids. Three died of a rare genetic cancer, she had two left. Both bad the same cancer. Why did she keep having kids? It is selfish. What if she got a normal kid, she was so broken, it wouldn't matter.

Why do people who know they shouldn't have kids due to genetic issues, have kids that suffer. Genetic issues will be a straw pull, but if you keep pulling the straw you have to know when to call it quits.

Anyways, I came to this thread to express a healthy hatred of a- religious fundies who think torturing babies is God’s work and b- far leftists who minimise the suffering that severe disabilities bring for political reasons, I’ve seen antifa clowns who oppose screening embryos for cystic fibrosis because reeeeeee it looks a bit like the big bad E word.

They used to routinely shave women upon arrival at the hospital, and give them an enema too. The latter actually makes sense, but not the former unless she's having a c-section, and then only the front area.

I realize that shaving is NOT the same as a Brazilian (OUCH!).
