seems pretty based to me

even if you can stay niche and what you do is well received how long can you really expect people to keep watching?
LGR and Cinema Snob are still going strong despite their niche subject matter. In both cases I'm not aware of any major sperg outs, and they still seem to give a shit about the content they make.

Powerlevelling a bit, but something I've noticed recently is that the channels I watch have changed, but the content is more or less the same. ThorHighHeels turned into political a sperg, Gmanlives sold out, and AVGN doesn't seem to give a shit much any more, but I still watch retro game reviews. It's just Minimme and WickedWiz instead of the previously mentioned people.

You have the likes of SidAlpha and Upper Echelon Gamers doing the kind of content Jim used to do, so I think Jim's old niche is still viable. It's just Jim is 4 years to late for breadtube, and no one has any interest in shit tier amateur wrestling.

At least she's trying to pass now. When they first came out it didn't look like they were trying at all. As soon as she didn't change her name because of branding I knew the channel would take a hit. Imagine not watching in a while you click a video and suddenly you see Jim sterling dressed like a woman with no context. Shocked the hell out of me

I barely pay attention to this retard so I legitimately didn't know Sterling had trooned out until I stumbled into a picture of what was extremely obviously Jim Sterling dressed like a woman, did a triple take, and then Googled his Twitter account and found his most recent posts to be him bragging about his huge rack and being in some tranny wrestling exhibition :cryblood:

To add onto this you don't need everyone to watch forever. You just need a certain amount of people to watch until you're tired of it, can retire, or find another job. THhat's the truth for a lot of content creators who don't really have a "creative" drive or want to do it forever, but for people like Jim I think you can get people watching forever and still live off it. You just need to scale life appropriately.

Look at dsp. Dead as fuck channel, but his die hard autists keep him afloat. It'll likely be the same with Jim for who knows how long. Peopple love their parasocial media.

I've noticed thorhighheels doing whatever the hell this thing is recently. I knew he was already a weird guy but did something happen?

You're not wrong, but the problem is it's a huge gamble, depending on the kind of content you make and who you are. Yeah guys like AVGN, SidAlpha or Internet Historian could shut up shop tomorrow and move on with their lives, but the people who've bet the farm on being Internet People have very little recourse. I just imagine someone like Spoony going for a job interview and them googling his name...some of these people are completely unemployable outside of (and because of) YouTube, and that's the timeline that interests me, because I can't imagine what they'll do when and if the money dries up except pull a Lowtax.

Jim is a prime example of this: If his Patreon ever gets sunk he is absolutely fucked. He has no transferable skills, he's old, out of shape, uneducated and not a particularly nice person and he has a digital footprint a lot of companies wouldn't wanna touch when there are a hundred better candidates out there.
A good comparison I find would be tv: You don't make the same show for 20+ years with the rarest of exceptions, and YouTubers have to upload far more often than networks do since everything is on-demand and attention spans online are much shorter. So it's a more saturated market with burnout far more likely to hit. In a sense, never taking off and being able to just make it a partial source of income might be the best thing that can happen to most YouTubers.
Yeah but that's what I mean: TV is like the opposite of how YouTube works. Eventually you move onto new projects and do different things --or you do multiple different shows at once-- but imagine filming the same show and nothing else for your entire career. I can't imagine how that wouldn't drive you absolutely mental.

Jim has a humiliation fetish so he definitely knows about this thread already. He'll spin it into his no but yeah but no but yeah whining in no time.

the best part about this is that he's probably going to make a video complaining about this again, meanwhile he makes more than 12,000 usd a month from patreon so it doesn't even matter

on a side note, when i was searching for the patreon, i saw this

12.5k a month?! I'd make crappy videos and let people make fun of me for that

The interesting thing about channels like dsp, wings, and at some point jimbo's is that the smaller the audience is, the easier it is for paypigs to be noticed. That makes it easier to get one hooked since chat and activities are so slow you're practically guaranteed to have your superchat read and responded to.

Immediate dopamine hits.
