Apparently they go to charity.

The gifted memberships are a double edge sword. On one hand they feed Phil's ego. On the other, him trying to debunk shit his former friends said or worse, giving an objective (condescending) opinion of someone like LTG would be amazing.

So if you need to accept the membership in the chat, doesn't that mean there is an upper limit on members based on current viewers? So if he keeps doing 200 viewer streams, he will have basically saturated it? Not to mention, can't you just wait now for someone to gift you and save $4? It seems like it will still be near impossible to get up to those Twitch numbers with legit fans.

I do find it funny that YouTube will purge channels of dead subscribers or punish users if they buy subscribers, but buying members is fine somehow. I mean, yeah? Sure? It really only makes sense if you don't think about it, like at all mate.
Because otherwise it could just be that YouTube allows inflating one certain number because they profit from it.
