It’s a record captured forever to remind Ralph how poorly he treated and spoke to his (now dead) mother. Without it he could try to rewrite history in his head but thinking about that audio just reminds Ralph that he did regularly treat his mother like garbage and there’s no denying it.

He also like to get big mad about vaccines but the fact is he left his mother who was in ill health to go shack up with Trixie the Golden Witch’s ex. I don’t think people realized it at the time but his mom’s health plummeted to death bed within a few months of Ralph moving out. I think him leaving was the biggest factor in her rapid decline.

He was a jobless adult leach for 15 years that lived off of his mother. Then as he as her health is in real decline he takes off with some slut he met three months because she agreed to split bills and sleep with him. Sandra probably couldn’t afford the Uber to her dialysis 4 times a week. He abandoned Sandra when she needed him, not just on her death bed. Sandra died of a broken heart because her son callously discarded her when she needed his help, after he had taken everything he could get out of her.

Ralph could have had his ill mother move in to his new home or found a home close to her so he could help her daily, but Ralph just left her in the dust once he didn’t need the free housing and she became a burden.

The guilt eats Ralph up and that’s why he has these freak outs. It’s not about his mom, it’s about how badly he treated her.

While we’re on the subject of dead parents, I don’t believe his shitty little schpeel about getting the jab for a second.
If he feels shame about that, it honestly makes me think even less of him. Not giving a fuck at would’ve implied some emotional distance, but he actively and very painfully made her life worse at every turn he could have.

I think the rage and the pills are because the moment he really stops, he has to recon with him having no future no matter what he does. I think this was true until she actually died - then he did feel guilt or maybe it’s actually just resentment but the closest thing to guilt Gunt can feel.

If Sandra wasn’t going to do her job of feeding, cleaning, sheltering and giving him money she was worthless to him. I'm pretty sure she's been on Ralph's show more than once before, but to give you the quick rundown she's some hack comedian who does a show with Brittney Venti and used to be part of Jack Murphy's group of friends. At one point she told a story about how she stole some random person's bags but later pretended like it never happened despite their being clips of her telling the whole story.
