Yeah, 4.65 for gas means I'm not going to go anywhere for memorial day. I'll just cook burgers at home. (Though lord help you at how high ground beef prices have shot up.)

The amazing thing is that the minimum wage is still 7.25 an hour. We're quickly approaching the point where 1 gallon of gas will be more expensive than an hours work in certain areas. (Yes, some states already have $15 on the books, but a LOT of people are still going to be fucked.)

Add in food/electricity shortages and we're going to see some serious shit pop off. Bets are off when people start starving and know security cameras aren't working due to no power.

Sorry, still going to lol at 4.65 for 1 gallon. A gallon is a fuckhuge amount. Most europe has 2 dollars per liter, so around 7 per gallon. With half the minimum wage.

Dicking with Putin worked out greeeaaaat.

It's currently about 1.68 bongland bux per litre in the UK. If I didn't fuck up my numbers that's almost $8 per US gallon. Oof it hurts bros

It's ok tho, I'm sure an EU embargo on russian oil will fix everything

The price of an hour's work isn't set by minimum wage. That's a price floor; it doesn't mean you can actually hire anybody at that rate. All the fast food places near me start at $12.

$12/hr is ass when eggs are 4.99 a carton milk is the same and gas is $6 a gallon. And that's not even factoring in people's rent/mortgages.

It's the people renting who are really fucked. They are never getting out. I checked the value of my house and how much the monthly payment for it would be to service a mortgage. It's up 20% in one year.

All those people who didn't read the tea leaves back during the COVID lockdown, and went on the dole, and didn't take a shitty job in order to get enough income to secure a mortgage are fucked. They are never going to own anything.

I delivered Pizza during COVID and bought a house. Thank fucking God. All my friends and coworkers are now stressing about rent prices spiking. They all took the handouts and made fun over how they made more money then I did doing fuckall over 2020.

Jokes on them.

Millenials and Gen Z are apparently the most financially fucked generation.

It's why they're now having galaxy brained thoughts on increasing immigration because if we import millionaires they'll make up the deficit and everyone will be able to keep their quality of life while living on "middle class welfare".

They are completely screwed, unless they get out of the city now. Rural America still has plenty of cheap land and very nice homes that can be gotten on the cheap. Not for much longer though. With the advent of shit like Starlink and remote work, you don't NEED to live in a 3500 dollar a month one bedroom with a roommate. You can buy a house for 50k in West Virginia, hook up your satellite internet and do whatever it is you do from there.

Not going to last, Silicon Valley is going to heavily contract in the next few years now that the free money ride from the Fed is over. These business are going to lay off huge amounts of dead weight because they have to turn a profit now. Everything is going to contract, wages and perks first and foremost, which is ironic because in the face of inflation tech workers will want higher wages. The next few years are going to be shaking out all of these zombie corporations and their deadbeat "workers" who would never have had a job if the same rules that apply to blue collar workers were enforced for them.

Until the yuppie laptop class realize there is no Starbucks, Chipotle, and Amazon Prime and every single one of their neighbors hates them because they radiate faggotry. Tech is in a massive bubble right now and I say that as someone who is from that sector.

Then can their tends up on skid row with the GenX who early retired and the retired boomers who's 401k when boom and those left with pensions can't keep the payments up with the standard leaving increases with at least 15% annual inflation.

Tech yuppies aren't going to move to rural Virginia. I live in suburban Wisconsin which isn't even rural for fucks sake. We have micro pubs and coffee shops and the Cali transplants still act like it's Fallout New Vegas's Goodsprings or something.

They'd fucking starve and die in the country.

lol there are still retards who think that the British government is going to get up off its ass and do something about the lower class being financially obliterated. You are pond scum to them, they just see this like a good flushing.
The problem is there is literally no alternative. The historic workers party have been mired in woke identity politics for years and have almost completely alienated the voter base. In terms of policies that matter though there aren't any meaningful differences to the ruling party - they are basically all corporate stooges offering nothing to the working class. Two cheeks of the same arse as they say. We're totally fucked.
