Remember that one of the meme things Elon is actually serious about is space exploration. There's a reason he got into SpaceX beyond profits, he's a stonerbro who thinks space is absolutely the coolest shit.

He's much less likely to get to stake his claim as the first billionaire to start up space tourism or colonize Mars with a Biden admin or with any admin headed by the far left. And that's why he's suddenly speaking up now, because he recognizes that the crazies have escaped containment and seized control of the bridge, and are driving us into the ground. He is a green energy person but not so unrealistically so that he's willing to cripple our ability to even reach green sustainability by crippling combustion engine usage etc. He cares about the environment to some degree and I think he genuinely does want free speech etc, and he's a rich fuck so yeah he probably opposes unions too.

But I remain convinced the real reason he's suddenly speaking up is because he realizes that if these dumb fucks keep getting their way, the US will be left on this ball of dirt while China claims space.

Someone mentioned it elsewhere, but one of the conservative judges being offed and replaced by a gender blob by the current administration would be fucking brutal to the country's stability. They also didn't take into account how people generally don't leave their homeland unless it really, really, really fucking sucks. They don't leave if it's good enough. That doesn't mean an American standard of living, it means you've got a place to live, your kids are fed, you don't worry daily about getting killed, and you're not working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week just to stay alive. Your average person just doesn't move a thousand miles from home purely for labor arbitrage.

A while back, I was sitting next to an illegal alien on a plane who was heading back to somewhere in Central America and got to talking. Why was he going back? Wasn't because INS caught him. It was just that he missed his family, he missed the mountains, the money he made as a fruit picker didn't really buy him a nice place to live in CA, and things back home had gotten to the point where he could make enough money to stay where he belonged.

It's in any article you care to read about Greek, Serbian, German, Turkish, Arab, etc nationalism. It was in my middle school history textbook (when discussing 19th-C European nationalism).
