One upon a time, there was a brony by the name of SteveHooves. This man was a large fan of the well-known edgy tale of fuzzy animatronic whatsits that so many autists enjoy: Five Nights at Freddy's. Whether it was making odd feel pieces between his OCs and the other animatronics, making ideas for fangames with his dragon animatronics, or just shipping his self-insert with some fox thing, he had his whole life ahead of him at the plucky young age of 23.

One day, something changed in him. A man by the name of Toby Fox released a game that would sweep the internet (not entirely for the better), and he had found something that resonated in him that he couldn't find anywhere else. Like many people in the FN@F fanbase, he decided to jump on the Undertale bandwagon.

Using his creative knowledge, he decided the Undertale universe wasn't cool enough to fit in his world of dragons and haunted pizza places, so he gave Sans and Papyrus fangs and made them buffer, made himself more powerful than the final boss, and created a character he calls his own son that partners up with Sans.

It was decided that creating art wouldn't be enough. So, Steve's noble quest stretched to the world of Tumblr in the form of the askblog "Ask Corruption Fiend, Freddy Fazbear and/or Foxy". On this site, you get to see the epitome of human achievement that is seeing Sans defend a random person on the internet for being called a furry (or just people saying anything unflattering about furries), the creator turning into a demon for being called a dorkazoid, and using his characters to make the strangest, cheapest jokes you could think of.

I'm pretty sure that by this point the Undertale fandom is at least as autistic as the FNAF one, just with fanart of an overall (this guy being the exception of course) higher calibre.

So edgy.

Undertale was alright. I was pretty shocked by how deep of a game it was for something made in Game Maker.

People like this make me sad though. Sure, it's alright to like a show or a game, but making art like he does it going to bite him in the ass one day. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he'll grow up one day, he's going to have a very big "oh shit" moment and need to make a mad delete of everything online if he wants to ever be normal.

I have a feeling the boat pretty much sailed on that whole ever passing as normal thing.

The fuck are those things?

Yeah, this is Undertale we're talking about. All chances of normal would have been obliterated after playing the game. Though given the guy is also a FNAF fan, normal wouldn't have applied to him anyway.

I never played Undertale (actually, it is definitely not my kind of game) but I totally get why people love it so much (FNAF's popularity, alternatively, still baffles me).

The problem, is that when something is popular enough you are guaranteed to get the crazies and the narcissists out of the woodwork.

Now, I am not too familiar with the Undertale fan-base but as long as it does not devolve into the shitshows that are the Sonic/MLP fanbases... the original content should not be too tainted by contact.

Why are these people attracted to the same fanbases? I don't really understand what it is about FNAF and Undertale that attract a legion of spergs to it. Maybe it's a hivemind mentality.

It's probably a combination of colorful environments, 2-dimentional characters, and easy to understand black-and-white problems. (Not that media with any, or even all three, of these elements are bad... again, IMO Undertale is an excellent game)

Those three traits all exist in Sonic, Undertale, FNAF, and MLP. This is my first hypothesis as to why "these people" ( ) end up in these fanbases.

As to why they are so often sexualized? I'll attribute that to Rule 34.

I really don't get the FNAF thing...I've seen focus tests for marketing to dumbass children and nowhere does mechanized puppets show up.

It might have something to do with PewDiePie or other dumb "scream at webcam" youtubers. I mean, not counting his clones, the guy has something like 40 million followers. That can't be insignificant.

But the game itself just seems to be a terribly boring jump-scare fest.
