This is actually true. The entire movie was priming everyone to be terrified of Doctor Manhattan in particular and Superheroes in general. Doc accepts that he will be a pariah to Humanity to unify it. That is more heroic than what happens in Moore's comic.

The idea of faking an alien invasion always sounded silly to me since it's nearly impossible to make it convincing enough, besides there aren't too many reasons as to why any true and honest alien species would invade Earth, if they want reasources they can find billions of asteroids or small rocky planets that have thousands of times more resources than Earth.
Unless they're space jihadis or like the Combine from Half-Life then they don't need any practical reason to invade and we'd be fucked.

Read Alistair Reynolds’ Revelation Space series and he has a good explanation for the Fermi Paradox plus a reason for us to get wiped out. To be on topic lol at how the laptop is starting to become news somehow. The hatchets are out.

It was a lot better then I thought it would be. The trump cameo was stupid, but they were smart enough to not show his face and keep his role minimal. I liked how they made it seem like the paranoia and political brinkmanship of Watchmen was infecting the DC universe.

Still smells like a classless cash grab. As much as there are things to not like about Alan Moore, Watchmen was one of the few comics DC printed that was about artistic integrity instead of just commercialism. I couldn't think of anything more banal than, "Let's take Watchmen and do a Crisis on Infinite Earths type crossover with all our top selling characters!" Like holy shit that misses the point of Watchmen entirely. Might as well do Spiderman teams up with Preacher next to save President Biden or some other idiotic shit. Anyways, the leadership that decided this was a good idea ran DC Comics out of business so I have nothing to prove on that. lol

I don't know. I'm less familiar with...that as where I'm from is like 90% basic Baptist, Pentecostal, etc. I'm sure not all Episcopal churches are the same (as with any denom) but I just know it's much more common for those churches to be as bold as holding fundraisers for abortion clinics.

I don't think you understand just how horribly ingrained the idea that "Republicans = Racists" is in the black community. A common refrain from black friends of mine whenever I suggest voting Republican against even the local Democrat party, let alone the national politicians we're usually griping about after a few drinks, is "I cannot vote Republican. I just can't. My family would stop speaking to me."
Like, I remember in the leadup to the 2016 election, going point-by-point through Trump's platform with a black friend saying he liked 90% of those positions, and when I mentioned it was Trump, not Clinton, I was describing, he immediately said "oh no, I can't vote for Trump. That would end me"

The same thing happened with me and a fag friend. He said he couldnt live with himself if he voted Republican because of how much they hate the gay community. As a fag myself and conservative, I tend to be exiled and the butt of many jokes because it's an oxymoron and doesnt make sense that I would go against my "community". I guess I just put the economy before party cuz without economy we get shit like whats happening right now. That and imo, at least with Conservatives theyll tell you to your face how much they dislike you and I respect that, as opposed to dems who pretend to like you only to stab you in the back the moment a better opportunity comes.

One thing that's struck me is how the age vs. approval curve has completely reversed from what it was under Obama. Is it because old people have fallen for Biden's barely-disguised centrist facade and aren't paying attention to the radical agenda his administration is pushing? Do they have some degree of sympathy or identification with his declining health? Maybe they hate their grandchildren and want to leave a hollowed-out wasteland as an inheritance? Who knows. I'd also like to see a breakdown of the younger voters and figure out how many of them are just mad that Biden isn't paying off their college debt.

Fitting that this polling comes out all of a day after Jill Biden fucked up her grade-school Spanish yet again.
I seriously hope getting boned on the Hispanic vote this fall means the 2024 Democrat primary won't be full of all these cloistered fucks mangling basic Spanish phrases as part of their transparent pandering. While I doubt Biden voters will vote for Trump, what could happen is they are so pissed off at Biden that they just stay home. Turnout determines elections usually.

This is a thing mostly on the coasts imo. Most of the friends I lost over supporting Trump were in California, New York or fucking Canada. Like literally all of them. Everyone in other states didn't give much of a shit at all or voted for him including some of the lesbians. lol Those areas are just really indoctrinated into political bullshit while other states are more reasonable.

The purpose is to transmit a message when the pill is digested; a one-time event that isn't entirely predictable, so can't be predictably monitored. I'm not thinking about live feeds or anything of the sort. They're desribing a transmitter that is activated by the act of digestion, which would:

1) be able to acquire enough energy at the moment of digestion
2) use that energy to transmit a message at a frequency that isn't blocked or massively attenuated by the human body
3) be able to do so without an antenna long enough to transmit at that frequency

They're selling a fairy story to a bunch of people who think that microchips are magic. It's vapourware. Investor fluff. Marketing bullshit, spread about to make old idiots feel clever.

The breaking of the black vote into pieces is going to be a long road. I'd predict a long period of increasing black apathy towards voting is the most likely result in the foreseeable future. But them voting Republican in any sort of significant numbers is out of the question until a few criteria are ticked.
