Militarily the siege was insignificant, it only matters if you care about muh Nazis trapped like rats or muh brave hoholdouts bravely telling Putin to fuck off for six weeks or whatever it was

It's not like Russia has large amounts of men and materiel freed up now because the Nazis surrendered, or that the Nazis would have had the ability to launch attacks behind Russian lines or some shit if the siege had been lifted without them surrendering. It doesn't change any strategic calculus at all, that Russia had to level most of the city to secure it thus rendering its practical usefulness to Russia in the short term more or less nil is the most consequential result of the glorious resistance, and that isn't very consequential tbh

In addition to what dumbdude42 already said, another aspect is that during WW2 the Soviets only started to outnumber the Germans as the war was coming to an end. They suffered a great deal of losses and were able to replenish them, but the concept of Russians acting like a swarm of Zerg units is a misconception.
