This clip is amazing for so many reasons.
First off, this comment is completely consistent with the pignosis the whales are usually fed during the prestream. I see now that the prestream is designed to peel away any stigma attached to giving him money. For an hour the paypigs get drilled with one justification after another why he needs money and why you should donate it. Pointing out the trollz is just one part of that whole process, which includes downplaying the money received the day before, impending bills, and the usual day off drivel. Everything in between, all the updates and gaming "news" is wasting time for tips to roll in. These prestream tips are important because they get the positive reinforcement rolling and the tippers get special treatment compared to when they tip during gameplay.
Let me break down this sentence:
"You can trust what I say because I am not taking a dollar from anyone but YOU"
trust what I say: He is the mouthpiece, you can trust him because he is the honest guy, the guy from 2008 #stillhere. Phil has nobody on his streams and hardly features any outside content because he needs to control the narrative and monopolize his image for the paypigs. People get banned referencing d-tractor content because it breaks his narrative. TIHYDP were more damaging in the past because a central part of his persona was "being good at games", and we can see how eager he is to go to TIHYDP content now that he is not the gamer guy he used to be. Now he's bad at games, almost admittedly so.
I am not taking a dollar from anyone but YOU: This one is actually more loaded than you might think. He is again putting the spotlight on himself and the viewer simultaneously. He is saying his opinions are his own because he isn't bought, and in fact, he serves the paypigs. Which is funny, because it isn't true at all. He is trying to suggest that he serves the tipper, and it means he needs to be honest and accountable because they fund him. It is this weird psychology, insisting that they have power over him in this situation where it is really the opposite. It is the cult leader saying he devotes his life to his flock. Dave's life is his money, and his money flows from 10 wheelchairs, and he wants them to know he "serves" them. When really this whole prestream ordeal is tip manipulation, designed to exert donations in the most efficient way possible. The timeline is so long now we can see how he has made minor changes to his stream style to maximize his income (all within dave-levels of effort). The prestream is a massaging of the relationship between dave and his pigs, giving them the little details of his life that they want and facilitating the process for them to tip him to get more information from him. It's this "I'm the good guy" portrayal that is really the foundation of his relationship with the paypigs, and this community, for better or worse, reinforces that persona by just existing.
No amount of sunlight can disinfect this sentence for a Dasboshiit, Timboslice or KG. In their minds, the sentence is true, because he IS trustworthy (look at all the hate he gets), and that's how they are compelled to give him money.
