Honorable mention for a perfect reddit comment. This guy likes soulless commieblocks because Hollywood psyopped him to like them.

The troons are fucking everywhere. I got permanently banned from the Aqua Teen Hunger Force subreddit for asking what trans rights and anti TERF memes had to do with the show.

Fuck troons and fuck reddit.

If people like modern architecture so much how come you're hearing these terms enough to make you mad
Watching these people defend this architecture is beyond pathetic. Typical reddit contrarianism in action. If Trump said the sky was blue, they'd use some mangled science to prove that it's ACKSUALLY red at certain times. The only defense for modern architecture is that it's cheap and easy to maintain. Literally any other argument is pure cope, and anybody defending this architecture for any other reason is beyond saving.

It's not even that cheap except at economies of scale. Making a concrete and steel box for your suburban home costs 2x if not more than a well-made and aesthetically attractive wooden one for any given size.

are we talking about "bland cubes of glass and concrete" modern architecture?

or are we talking about "intentionally designed to look ugly and revolting" modern architecture?

cause the first type i can appreciate for what it is, but the second type is just pure dogshit that deserves arson.

Architects would call the second type "postmodern." The postmoderns decided it wasn't enough for cities to be uninspiring, they had to actively cause fear and revulsion as something beautiful was marred. It's more common in Europe where they have beautiful old buildings to add these growths to.

I can 100% guarantee that the architects who design these monstrosities will never live in them, and instead take up residence in the beautiful older buildings.

All of this was in regards to how the US government designs their buildings. In the case of government buildings I actually agree with the concrete and glass box idea, since it does work at the scale the US government requires. I also like the concept of subtly reinforcing the idea that the government should not spend frivilously through unassuming architecture.

If you're building things actual human beings and not feds are meant to use I absolutely agree with you. If you're someone that designs commercial buildings or homes like that you unironically deserve the death penalty.
