As a massive snob about rap I think Watame and Haachama are legitimately good and could make really good "real" rap with the assistance of a couple Americans (not me).

Mori is obviously an actual rap fan. I don't hate her so I won't say anything too unkind. She can do it. It's fine. Pop musicians producing almost only crap is normal. Their good shit's still good.

Curious, what exactly does Calli lack in the rapping department compared to girls like Watame and Haachama, since I see this point shared often?

Scru Face Jean has done that in practically all of his Mori/Demondice reactions, commenting on her technical ability, flow and rhymes, as he has legitimate experience as a rapper and can look past the fact that she's a white woman which is, let's face it, what pretty much all of the hatred towards Karen's music you see online--RYM and elsewhere--is based on.

You can't just handwave and say all the criticism is just because she is a "white woman". People are allowed to not like her or her rap because they think it is crap. Whether that is from a technical or strictly personal standpoint is up to them.

Haachama is not part of her lore if im not mistaken. She just created that back in 2020.

Haato is from back in the early days of vtuber when "high school girl" was a good enough lore to get by. Of course she's created her own as she went and her Haato/Haachama coexist arc is one of the things that really drug me in fully.

So it's good and bad depending on how you actually utilize it. For example Kiara's lore is worthless, Calli's lore can be useful and fun if she ever gets a kouhai with direct ties to her but her ability to RP is eh, gura's lore is worthless, Ame's lore can be (and kinda has been) used for some interesting stuff. Ina's lore is useless etc. On the NijiEN side, Vox's lore can be useful because it can describe the way he is and his ability to "swoon you" so easily, the Dragon sister's lore can be useful for 3D shit later on, Millie's lore being a cat witch of calamity makes sense even though she's lost her magic, she's still out to just have chaotic fun and so on.

Women's restrooms are what hell looks like. They'll shit on the floor and the toilet because they hover, will stick their used pads to the stalls and walls, and pretty much everything in between. 3DPD indeed, men mostly just piss on the floor.

This is far more interesting than the lore sperging going on. If this case goes through to court and shows it could be successfully argued, it sets precedence for Cover to start suing the fuck out of Antis that have actively harassed their talents - Aqua and FBK the major targets - or more likely for having fucked with their revenue (FBK's paywall concerts have been restreamed whether directly related to her or if she is involved in it such as Holofes) and potentially even take action for the recent wave of bot spam attacks against Kobo and Iofi. We've already seen Cover use established Indonesian internet anti-defamation laws to shame SEAniggers who went at Ollie. I could imagine Cover's legal team preferring to wait until someone else takes the first step then refine on it and use it for their own grievances.

Cover shouldn't have to wait for anyone else to set a precedent before they take steps to protect their own employees.

Chuuni lore dumps at debut are terrible, especially if it's something written by the company and not the talent themselves.

I believe some sort of "lore" is necessary. Otherwise the premise of 90% of vtubers is just a weird exhibitionist, streaming with an animal tail buttplug.

The debut lore dump is absolute trash though. Literally no one cares, not even the talents themselves. Most of them forget it by week two.

Short and simple is best. I know Lumi had lore prior to PC, but the entirety of her new PC lore is: She's an invader on Phaseworld. One and done.

Speaking of..I'm surprised Pipsqueak is ok with illegal aliens moving in and taking their jobs though.

Well that was certainly a debut that happened.

By the way, she used a 'Gastrocamera' which means it's not pictures of her throat, but her stomach. She wanted people to get to know the person on the inside.

Lore is important because it helps build a small connection of inside jokes between the fans and the vtuber and is a bit of a safety net both in oversharing and a fallback if the vtuber runs out of things to talk about. Like others have said, it evolves as the streamer streams more because it's meant to add to the experience rather than be the experience. The vtuber can decide how involved they want their personal life to be with their streaming and can go more lore-heavy for personal stories to obfuscate and distance themselves, or use less because they don't mind sharing.

Edit: Adding this as unrelated but I wanted to mention it. Went to the DemonDice concert on Friday at Acen, made it just as she was coming onto the stage. Funny things to note:
1. Losing her breath towards the end of the set and skipping chunks of lyrics to help catch said breath.
2. Calling out the single throwaway line about idols in 'Sad Boys' saying something close to 'people take the idol line out of context'.
3. A couple of winks and nods towards her vtuber stuff/fans.
Concert was fun anyways.
Other vtuber shit to note from the con was the line was unreal for the Bae/Gura panel to the point that 15 min after getting the room filled, there were still a line of about 100 people waiting for anyone to leave so they could get in, a ton of Mori Omocat merch being worn and DemonDice stuff all over, generally a lot more vtuber stuff in the artist alley than I've seen in the last year, and weirdly enough a small video for the MangaGamer (people who sold Go Go Nippon) panel from the Go Go vtuber girls.
