I don't know much about real estate, but I don't like the sound of "house flipping" - buying a home and selling it for far more. Or corporations buying houses and then renting them out. It seems to be why there's a housing crisis in at least America now. I think it's better if houses are sold to those who are going to live there.

House flipping in itself isn't a bad thing when it's done to renovate houses that are so in need of repairs that the average person would lack the time and money to do or pay for it themselves. It becomes more of a bad thing when the flipper tries to sell for an outrageous profit margin.

I'll agree wholeheartedly that corporate landlords and management companies suck. The one handling the rental property down the street sucks because it spends as little as possible on maintenance, upkeep, and yard work. As an example, nobody ever came to rake or remove the leaves at the end of fall and they ended up blowing all over the neighbors' yards until they were covered in snow all winter. Only this spring did someone finally come to remove what was left of the leaf piles. It sucks because the last person who owned the property before selling it to the management company actually took pride and keeping the property up.

Tards that pull out in front of you, almost causing a wreck, and then drive 5 miles below the speed limit. Bonus points for if there was literally no cars behind you for a half a mile.

People who drift slightly into your lane to the point you don't know if they're under the influence, asleep, bad drivers, or slowly trying to cut you off.

On a similar note, people who stay stopped a green light longer than necessary, even if it means people line up behind them or have to slam on their brakes because moving traffic isn't expecting someone to be stopped at a green light. It's one thing to be cautious on a green light in areas where people run red lights with impunity. It's another to stay still at a green light for no apparent/legitimate reason.

I just think it is because they are fucking around on their phone or high/drunk. I have had someone rear end me though in a left arrow turn lane because the light turned green for thru traffic, but not for the left turn lane. It was a deadbeat nigger with no insurance who said, well, I dunno what happened. Always have uninsured motorist coverage, ALWAYS.

They are a huge reason why I have front and rear dashcams. There are a lot of vagrants where I work and some of them are so fucked up, screaming at whatever their drug fueled hallucination of the moment is. Do you really think they are looking for cars when they cross the street?

It seems like a lot of you guys don't understand just how hard line cooks work. It's hot, it's miserable, it's thankless, the hours are long, the pay is shit, and you never get a break. I have mad respect for those guys because it is not easy. Also, it is complete bullshit that the waitress who brings you your food and refills your water is making significantly more money than the guys in the back slaving away to actually cook your meal. It should be illegal to run a restaurant where the kitchen staff doesn't at least receive a portion of the tips. It's a team effort. A customer is likely to tip well if the service was good + the food was tasty. So why is it that the kitchen staff don't see any of that money?

Agree. Have worked the line in my youth and watched waiters take home more in a good night’s tips than I earned in a week. And they don’t need to prep mise, stocktake, clean the fryers etc.

The line cooks don't work any harder than a waitress.

The cooks show up before the waitstaff, leave after the waitstaff have gone, and go home soaked with sweat and stained with grease.

Related to my post last week about the costs of surgeries: I went to the hospital for my pre-op and they told me I had to pay the $4,800 estimated bill right then. I have to put this on a credit card, because I don't have that much cash. I was hoping to pay the day of surgery so I could use my husband's low interest card that's almost paid off. But he's in meetings all day so I couldn't even call and get the number. Fortunately my credit card that's almost paid off was in my wallet.
