Western men's fashion is a fucking travesty compared to women's fashion. The problem isn't that most dresses and robes enhance the body instead of obscure it, it's that they are designed to enhance women's bodies. TIMs look hilarious because they are wearing women's clothing and it looks awkward because the cloth isn't cut for their body type.

No form, it doesn't highlight any features of his body when it's tight fitting. Wack, but not as laughable as a troon wearing women's clothes.

A really good example of how the same piece of clothing can be altered to look good on both men and women is the Japanese yukata. For both men and women, the yukata is sewn out of rectangular pieces of fabric. In men the sleeves are completely stitched to the body, but it does not for women to make space for the obi (sash/belt). The obi is thicker for women and tied at abdomen and is thinner for men and tied at the hips/waist. These differences are crucial because they compliment the natural forms of men and women's bodies and thus allow a blocky robe to look nice on both men and women.
Halfway in writing this post the editor didn't allow me to attach photos so Google "yukata men and women" to see what I'm talking about.

Men totally could pull off dresses like women. The first step in doing that is realizing that men are not women and design dresses for men from the ground up instead of trying to copy women.

The Georgian chokha or the Vietnamese Ao Dai are also good examples of “Formal Dresses” designed to be worn normally. The thing is they were designed to be Gender Neutral and more bleed into “part shirt part coat” than a straight up dress on the male side

I think it’s because it’s a way to signal that you’re culturally elite even if you aren’t actually financially elite. It’s a way of showing that you know all the right words and luxury beliefs, and maybe it’s even more important if you’re educated and feel entitled to an important job and a high salary but are caught in a low wage, low status life situation.

I downloaded a few new podcasts to listen to in the office. I start listening to one. I picked out a few episodes that sounded good at random. First one was supposed to be about a woman who carried a huge secret that could take a big toll on everything around her. I thought wow interesting, who knows what it is!

These people never seem to realize 2 VERY important facts: 1.) Everyone gets rejected. Seriously. Dating for most people is 90% rejection/it just doesn’t work out. That’s normal.

2.) The sex part of sexual orientation matters. If you’re trying to date straight women, 99.9999% are going for a biological man. Our first female prime minister in Denmark is called Helle Thorning Schmidt. One of her daughters trooned out and is now called Milo Kinnock (the Kinnock name means something to the Brits?).
