Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

It's funny how they think the NRA matters. Even when it was a legitimate organization, it simply represented its members and provided services they wanted. If you took out the NRA, there'd still be millions and millions of gun owners voting, organizing, donating, etc. The will comes from the grass roots, not from the organization that pitched its tent on the grass.

I've heard of places a mandatory 24 or 48 hour hold on a person who is at risk of suicide or having delusions where harming someone else is a factor. Involuntary hold beyond that is more or less a higher bar to clear.

From "mah conservatism" to "mah trans rights". I wish we could stop somewhere in the middle, like Christian democracy. Unfortunately, we are stuck with 2 parties that are both stupid. One bans abortion (good) but favours capital punishment (bad). The other one wants to allow abortion until right before birth but, as of late, wants to abolish the death penalty. The NRA is not some massively evil entity. They give a moderate amount of money. The power of the NRA is the members and other fellow gun owners.

You can kill the entire NRA but then gun owners will just start another group.
