what is their purpose? start forest fires or something?
Burn that shit down, I suppose. The shells were made in the 1960s. I have no idea how effective they are now, but they're beautiful.
Some of us became armchair generals, some of us are actually retired senior officers.
No one is encroaching on your pension, my friend.

It's just kids playing video games and using tactics from a real-life combat conflict.

To uphold the narrative.

Officers will not be able to legally shoot their troops for disobeying orders.
That change to the law got cancelled.

"A colonel just came and started telling us how the trenches are wrong, positions are incorrectly placed, blyat. He dislikes everything: uniform is wrong, someone doesn't have it cleaned, blyat. Then why doesn't this fucking thing catch anyone's attention? We've got a fucking Maxim machine gun on out position in the year 2022."

This might be a foreign concept to the Moskals, but good militaries enforce discipline and detail.

I'm not sure if it looks cursed or blessed.
Gimme gimme chicken tendies,
Be they crispy or from Wendys.
Spend my hard-earned good-boy points,
on Kid's Meal ball pit burger joints.
Mummy lifts me to the car,
To find me tendies near and far.
Enjoy my tasty tendie treats,
in comfy big boy booster seats.
McDonald's, Hardee's, Popeye's, Cane's,
But of my tendies none remains.

Do Russian officers even have the privilege of resigning their commission?
Yes, but that's a literal Hell to do. Most of those who want this shit done quick pick up the de-commission through mental asylums. That's the least favorable option but the only one that 100% guarantee you'll never face a military service ever again. Until the full pledged war come, then you're fucked because you'll be nothing more than a pvt. Dipshit.

Some of contractors do the same but for various reasons. Usually because they are ran off the other options while military service literally kills anything human in them and they want to get out. I know from experience, unfortunately...

I believe T-72 is basic training tank in russia, so every tankman would know how to operate it.
Not just training one, it's still the main battle tank in a lot of armies here. I served in one of newly formed regiments of 150th division, these fuckers got a lot of shit, both new and not so. Mostly dumped off, used armor, de-conserved AKs, armor, etc.
These fellows have T-72s. While 20th Brigade have (had, perhaps, can't tell for certain anymore) T-90s and I happened to be one of the gunners of this model. Shit rocks. You. Hard.

You can do that but most likely you are going to jail, in best case scenario.
Currently yes. Not long before the Ukraine comfy happening have started officers and ensigns were able to pull off through decommission via contract breach or health issues (both cases require a shitton of time and luck to get a successful result. Again, speak from my own experience as Sergeant, jr.)
Absolutely, the problem is realistically no country is buying T-62s in current year, which makes this whole thingeven weirder.
There is a moment of backward compability of spare parts, which T-series tanks tend to share between themselves. Not all of them of course, but still enough to dissassemble T-62 and put some of its parts in, say, T-72\80.

Just some British bishop at a sermon in Warsaw, Poland talking about the current thing.
Hold the fuck up, Bri*ish person? Of the religion? Propagate Putin as a right man to stand against evil?!
WHAT THE FUCK, CHRIS, WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO IN YOUR MERGE SEQUENCE?!!!
Okay seriously, that's highly unexpected.

You've fallen from grace, sir. It's a shame...

SEX.

The VDV didn't even perform badly at Hostomel Airport.
No denial in that, but, what about other operations though?
You know me, I'm on Russia's side (no shit Sherlock, I fuckin' live there after all).

Unlike these whiny faggots Maxim does its job. And does it good enough. In 2022.

It wouldn't surprise me if the US said they'd cover all food shortages too, as absurd as it is. "No no no WE will handle any food shortages." *domestic issues in the US worsen*
No freedom fries?! :(

And that's unfortunate one of such officers eats metaphorical and literal shit by his brain by put a high trust to MSM articles. What a shame.

More or less a fear factor buff.

Notable.

Telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi
At the initiative of the Italian side, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, Mario Draghi.

The situation in Ukraine was discussed. In particular, Vladimir Putin informed about the ongoing work to establish peaceful life in the liberated cities of Donbass. He spoke in detail about the steps being taken to ensure the safety of navigation, including humanitarian corridors being opened daily for civilian vessels to leave the ports of the Azov and Black Seas, which the Ukrainian side hinders. The principal assessments of the negotiation process frozen by Kiev are also given.

The state of affairs in the field of global food security is thoroughly considered. Noting the groundlessness of Russia's accusations of problems with the supply of agricultural products to world markets, Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that the difficulties encountered were connected, among other things, with failures in the operation of production and logistics chains, as well as the financial policies of Western countries during the coronavirus pandemic. The situation has worsened due to anti-Russian restrictions imposed by the United States and the European Union.

Vladimir Putin stressed that the Russian Federation is ready to make a significant contribution to overcoming the food crisis through the export of grain and fertilizers, provided that politically motivated restrictions from the West are lifted.

When discussing the issues of energy security, the Russian side confirmed its intention to continue to ensure uninterrupted supplies of natural gas to Italy at the prices fixed in the contracts.

@MundusVivendi

I have no idea about the other operations. We got plenty of footage of them taking heavy losses attacking Irpin and Bucha (very stupid to force them to attack these places) but the only other place I've spotted them in videos is near Izyum, and we really have no way of knowing how well they're doing, especially since most troops in the Izyum front aren't actually attacking, and are merely mustering in the city and surroundings in anticipation of what happens in the Donbas. If I had to guess, they're maybe being used for probing attacks at most, being a light force and all. IMO they'll have limited utility for the rest of the war, no more ebin airdrops will be done unless something changes, for example.

PS: Opinions on the T-90 and autoloader especially? Autoloaders have always seemed very unnecessary to me. I'd rather have to train the 4th guy to load shells and have him available to help fix the tank in case of break down, or substitute for another crew member if they're unable to function, even if it also makes the tank bigger. Plus, less carousel explosions.

In my opinion autoloader in T90 is useful on a simple ground of it being very cramped. You surrender space for the mechanism but forego the need for 4th crewman.

Opinions on the T-90 and autoloader especially?
Mixed, really. From one side it makes main gun reload a slightly more easy task, and both gunner and tank commander don't have a need to manually reload a tank after each shell being shot.
From the other side if any malfunction would happen OR the batteries will get dry, that's a real fucking problem. It's not a problem during tank maintenance, but during an open confrontation, the ongoing battle? You're fucked right from the second this shit happened. Because you don't have time to fix the loader that got stuck FOR WHATEVER FUCKING REASON, or get to smoke from other nearby tank crew.

I'd rather have to train the 4th guy to load shells and have him available to help fix the tank in case of break down, or substitute for another crew member if they're unable to function, even if it also makes the tank bigger.
I agree there, but unfortunatle none of current active service models suggest the additional 4th crew member. BMP and BTR do, tanks? some of arthillery platforms have two gun loaders, and while I've served in 103th regiment in arthillery our batteries\chapters have trained the loaders on the role of gunner\mechanic replacements in case one of these get knocked out\killed.

lus, less carousel explosions.
Oh yes, that too. Though the chance to hit the ammunition by a precise shot is still high, thus the flying towers are keep to be a thing.

There's literally no space for a forth crew member in any of tanks that are in service in RAF. T-62 had a place for 4. All the models that come up after T-62 were designed for the crew of 3.

Even Armata have a crew of 3.

Its looking like yesterday was the crescendo of Russia's offensive in the Donbass. dead silence today except for some skirmishing around Kharkiv. Russia may have expended the supplies they need for offensive operations and is having to refit their frontline units before trying again.

Where have you been? They ran out of supplies 2 months ago!

What did you even do, exactly? "Retired senior officer" is a bit too vague to be meaningful.
To me it sounds like "retired crime fighter" from Dick Danger, a main character of Island Peril game.

Oh look, каклошвайны finally acknowledge the Russian gains!

They ran out of supplies around Kiev. Believe it or not, I do know Russia can Resupply their units, especially if they are close to a rail yard. The question is if they can resupply their front line units fast enough to maintain operational tempo. The answer to that question has been no. if they don't make gains in a week or two, they don't make them at all. Russia's performance in this war has been they can sustain operations for about 3 weeks tops, and after that they need to stop/retreat. So a halting of the Donbass offensive at this point would be in keeping with past Russian operations.

Have heard autoloader has eaten arms. Not a fan. First, additional machinery to be taken care of/fixed. Could be times when you need to change shells, from armor-piercing to high-explosive, or vice versa should target change quickly. Doubt autoloader would have ability to pluck out one shell and replace with another.

Not an armor officer, but suggest from what we have seen in this war the size of the tank doesn't matter that much any more. Suggest armor protection is more important, since the smart anti-tank weapons can find the tanks anyway.
