My school did the same thing. What this meant in practice is that, for the bullies, it was open season on the scrupulous kids who feared getting in trouble and cared about their grades (at my school, suspension meant zeroes on any quizzes or homework during the period of suspension, and a letter grade drop on any tests). If a kid smacked your head into a locker when a teacher wasn't looking, and you told, you both got suspended for two days, so you just sucked it up and took the abuse.

YUP. They were really heavy handed with punishments so you'd either both be suspended or potentially even arrested depending on what mood the asylum owners were in that day. Effectively just becomes anybody that actually cares about their school performance being punished for it while the retard who starts fights for no reason and didn't give a shit was given a free pass because their victim ends up covering for them. It's not really hard for me to see why certain kids would lose their minds given enough time.

I blame Zero-Tolerance policies for these poor boys turning into school shooting faggots. All those policies do is encourage bullying to continue, both outright in the open, and clandestine (made more common with easy access to the internet). The kid getting bullied won't fight back because they care about getting in trouble with an authority figure, a bully doesn't. By-standers are less likely to step in to fight the bully back for those exact same reasons.

PL: Most the of the friendships I've made as a kid started with bullying or fist fights. 2 of my closest childhood friendships started with throwing fists at each other within a few hours of meeting, and by the weekend we'd have sleepovers.

Edit: I know the "boys will be boys" argument is used as a negative and sexist thing, but it's true. Boys are rambunctious, aggressive, and just all around assholes. Schools, doctors, and social workers have been punishing and/or diagnosing this natural behavior as if it were some sort of behavioral or medical disorder. They want boys to be girls (see: tranny grooming done in schools), that's why these sort of things happen.

Lmao at my school one of the teachers grabbed a student in a chokehold and literally dragged him to the principals office because the kid busted a glass bottle in the hallway just to be an asshole.

The only time any of the fighting kids got anything more than 3 days suspension for fighting was when one retard got so pissed off at another retard that he took out a pellet pistol he had at school (read: retard) and shot him in the face with it.



On my end tbh I saw the No Child Left Behind bullshit do more damage than the "Zero Tolerance" which only got enforced if the adults cared to do so. But No Child Left Behind set nationwide academic expectations that essentially resulted in the normal to above average kids getting less education because every lesson had to focus on making sure even the glue eaters could understand it. Millions of kids who could've been a new generation of ambitious, intelligent, contributing members to society, got fed watered down lesson plans that often took an extra several days to weeks to complete since, again, everything was done at a pace set by the kids who were slowest to grasp concepts.

And for all the shit I love to give the Dems, that little nugget of fucking stupidity can be attributed to the Bush machine.

It's an exceptionally stupid take in this case because according to reports the Border Patrol SWAT team couldn't make entry into the class room because it was locked.

They had to wait to get a key from a school employee.

That blew my mind. You would think SWAT would know how to force doors. Apparently not possible to go in through a window. Guess we should be glad Border Patrol was available, or God only knows how long the police would have stood around.

And also why, once graduated from the school, some kids never attended a reunion or donated anything to the school. Wonder if a parent has ever lawyered up and challenged that punishment policy.

I always told my kids they were authorized to defend themselves. Didn't give a fuck what the school said/did. They weren't going to be some shiteater's punching bags.
