That's why he's jumping into the drama with both feet in my opinion, it's literally the only thing getting him any amount of attention right now.

The dude doesn't make even close to that. He thinks flying to Portugal is an incredibly lavish, luxury holiday whilst living in a house where the pillows and covers don't have any sheets. It's Portugal. It's one of the popular holiday spots for British tourists who have a notoriously bad reputation of going out, getting drunk, kicking the cunt out of each other and then being told off by police and going home again.
