General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The Rekieta Depp stream introduced Branca (and the 25k+ audience) to a Pippa clip. Earlier the audience was introduced to Ethan Ralph getting the shit knocked out of him, and one of America's preeminent experts on self defense law unironically analyzing the beatdown to see if either party had a valid self defense claim.

Dimensional Merge indeed.
For once im caught up on everything and its a glorious show.

Maybe my slowpoke days will soon be behind me

Tbh it's just common in the JP industry since merch (especially anniverary) is seen as more of a special thing and not generally a secondary source of income, so it's more often than not you'll see goods be limited run/production/one of's. It sucks but it's pretty much always been that way unless it's set up to be a store front selling generic goods endlessly (for example plushies would be limited compared to acrylic stands, badges, stickers etc.) as:

Stated, it seem to have spread to other creators in general now, MAYBE because the plague fucked up production lines, but even prior to 2019 I noticed "I have merch! ...It'll last for only 2 weeks and cost $300."

When your merch is made in big batches, ordering more after the initial run is inherently risky if you aren't absolutely sure it's going to sell out again. People don't buy the same merch twice so it usually makes more sense to just make new merch next run than rerun the old merch.

It is absolutely possible for youtubers to lose money on merch if things don't go perfectly. There's a Mr. Beast video where million dollars worth of unsold youtuber merch gets donated to charity. Kson lost money on her $20 pizza pin merch despite selling out due to unexpected manufacturing cost increases.

Worth noting that Chloe's inflection point between 600K and 700K does not correspond to her early break after her grandma's death, which happened around 13 January. In contrast to JP4, ID1 and Myth, JP5 and everyone after Myth have obvious inflection points in their sub growth. Except
Youtube has definitely gone out of their way to limit the growth of vtubers. Several of them have straight up grown twice as fast as Gura at debut only to hit some sort of wall.

It could be a site wide issue, though. Ever since the channel booms in 2020 you don't hear much about viral growth anymore. Like youtube doesn't want another Dream deal because it affects investors and shit.

This chick is still missing? Is she dead on the floor of a Japanese apartment somewhere?
Ya know she is only 20-21. Between her moving and signing up with Pony Canyon, she's probably really busy with things like music and college, and is a bit scatter brained about keeping people updated. Though after what happened with the original Utopia server she's probably really cautious about revealing any personal information.

Edit: and possibly voice acting, which is a quite realistic given she's part of Pony Canyon now.

Didn't fishman mention in the Lumi/Yuri stream that basically he wants freer content but holds the girls back a bit because of current canceling bullshit?
Fuck vtweeters keeping us from the kino.
I took that as him being hopeful the vtubing culture would evolve to allow it, but he doesn't want to be the first to push in that direction. While I'd prefer him to be more aggressive about it and basically just let the rabbit go nuts to open the way for the medium going forward, I can also appreciate his apprehension given the first one to go against the grain in any community will always get backlash (and having to deal with a hundred complaints a day from Alice 16 she/her ACAB because Pippa did a heckin yikes sounds annoying as fuck).

I will say some of the people I see in Pippa's chat who're obviously IBS-adjacent fans don't really help the case; there's times like yesterday's stream where it's contextually appropriate to discuss that stuff and honestly the moderation should've been loosened to accommodate it, but there's also times during completely unrelated gameplay/karaoke etc. streams where some sped who can't read the room will just bring up something Ralph's done for no reason whatsoever and I just roll my eyes about it. Admittedly that could be some /vt/ gay op but still, she's not a one-trick pony so the tourists who show up exclusively to talk about the gunt feel out of place.

I suppose it would have been nice if she bothered to tell her fanbase that she was bailing, instead of letting them worry for months about what happened to her. A pretty shit way to treat your fans.

I do think Pippa needs some tard wrangling. Probably less than she has now, but definitely some amount. She is clearly very creative and talented, but even she knows she likes push the boundaries. Having someone she can trust say "Yes, you can play with the metaphorical roman candles. No, you can't point them at your eye when you do." is useful.

Oh yeah I mean "go nuts, within reason", obviously she needs someone to step in if she's gonna get her account yeeted or get some kind of extreme backlash, but the whole not being able to talk about specific streamers thing feels arbitrary. Having to talk around the elephant in the living room when something happens that both her and chat are obviously aware of just feels awkward.

Grimmi is petting her cat on stream for 2k (followers on twitch I assume). As good content as anyone else is streaming at the moment.

And just as I was about to compliment her for not being a barehanded harlot, she hand doxes herself. Surely this is the end as the hackers known as kiwifarms have found the data.
