Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

I understand that people join for different reasons, but if you want people to see you as a hero, you are joining the wrong organization. Cops are often notorious for having big egos in any case.

It's unbelievable- in that I didn't want to believe it (again). This goes against everything that has been learned for literal decades about how to deal with these situations. For years federally funded training has stressed not to wait around. There is no situation which calls for immediate and decisive violence more than an active school shooter and these guys pull back because they're "taking fire"? This is so fucking depressing. And the worst part is that there will probably be few, if any, consequences.

The cops didn't do shit. They sat around for 90 minutes until a tactical team showed up. Allegedly, they only entered the school to retrieve their own children/family members, not to kill the shooter.

Actually, I take that back. Allegedly, they tried to enter the classroom but the shooter went bang bang too much so they had to leave.

That doesn't make sense at all. They "half" went in? Who is they anyway. I need to see a timeline cause right now that doesn't follow at all. It took an hour and a half for someone to do something? Oh and they shot at a bunch of civilians sheltering in a fire hall because they thought some guy was maybe the shooter, before driving off.

The shooter, Wortman, was also suspected to be a RCMP criminal informant.

I don't fault them for keeping the parents out of the school. I've been there when an upset relative wants to charge into my Fire Scene. You feel for them, but would really prefer they not actually die on your watch. But just in those videos there was nobody in charge. Even for controlling the crowd and securing the perimeter.

The active shooter situation, you want to stop the killing, you want to preserve life, but also one thing that – of course, the American people need to understand — that officers are making entry into this building. They do not know where the gunman is. They are hearing gunshots.

They are receiving gunshots. At that point, if they proceeded any further not knowing where the suspect was at, they could’ve been shot, they could’ve been killed, and that gunman would have had an opportunity to kill other people inside that school.

Like that 4th grader that they instructed to yell help and got executed by the shooter because she did so? I hope the police in that small town lose everything.
