Semi? Sometimes I think Sander is a bit over-discussed. I can see why, Jazz himself isn’t exactly a dynamic force, and there’s only so many ways you can say Jeanette is a worse mother than Medea. So something of possible note would be a nice change.
I agree with Exulansic that Sander "practices" abusive behavior on Jazz. I wonder how many girls get a creep vibe from him.

Sander is basically that one Stonetoss comic about male feminist, but a bit more fit. Also, as someone who’s pretty damn gender crit, dating someone you wouldn’t screw in a million years just to build up your credit is disgraceful behaviour, even if I’m sure Hope was “in on it” to an extent.

I wouldn't date a guy who dated TIMs. I don't feel bad for Hope bc he knows Sander has no interest. I *might* feel bad for a TIM who didn't know that, though.

Jazz just has such an odd vibe. Like, he registers less as “trans woman” (for better or worse) and more like these giant mentally disabled adult? Like, there was this kid I knew in primary school, last I heard he had a guy in an Elmo suit someone for their twenty-first birthday. That’s Jazz’s aura... except he’s clearly not that level of debilitated? Maybe it’s just that he has that weird ten year old head and voice on this big lumbering transsexual body? Or the way pretty much everyone around him treats him like a small boy? Aside from having him turned into a boutique eunuch, which I suppose is how you treat some young boys if you’re an impossibly old Italian person.

Well the new WPATH guidelines just released did add 'eunuch' to the list of gender identities to be treated by clinicians in transgender medicine.. so Jazz was just ahead of the curve

Jazz does come across as delayed, but in certain ways. Like, in ways that the average layman wouldn't even pick up. While I certainly believe it was the blockers, I think he's also been trained to be this childlike softie. Supportive and sweet to everybody. He agrees with everybody with no critical thinking at all, and doesn't give much pushback. When he does, he retreats quickly. I wonder, if he had been allowed to develop normally, if he would have been quite intelligent. He IS very good at saying what everyone wants to hear. He's got a lot of self-restraint that delayed people usually don't. By restraint I mean social restraint. He can't control his eating, but he CAN be cordial and loving to assholes on camera. It's rare that he shouts or snaps back at them. He delays his reactions to over-eat later. So he DOES have some impulse control. If he didn't, he'd have kicked Sander in the balls by now.

One thing about Exulansic, who often has very good points, was her weird thing about Jazz having Prader-Willy syndrome, which is a genetic disorder. Jazz just being a binge eater for all the reasons depressed people and/or literal eunuchs often are seems way more likely than brain damage happening to emulate a condition that makes patients literally eat till their stomachs explode. Sorry, nothing you said really, just occurred to me.

Jazz is like if one of the creeps in the “eunuch sissy subculture” decided to write their genre’s equivalent of Watchmen and it somehow got filmed.

I agree with certain aspects of this, however I can't get over the frankly jarring contrast between Jazz' sophisticated use of university-level vocabulary and the content of what he's actually expressing/communicating. How he views himself, other people, the world, romantic relationships, etc. is so naive and childlike; sometimes downright infantile, and yet his various social, emotional and social-pragmatic deficits are concealed within a stream of advanced vocabulary that creates the impression in the I am Jazz viewers that Jazz knows what he's talking about, when in reality he's just parroting stuff he's picked up during his time as world-famous trans-kid trailblazer Freak Show Exhibit.

As for the question on whether Jazz would have been naturally intelligent if the puberty blockers hadn't stunted his brain development? I honestly can't tell, because while he undoubtedly seems verbally gifted, he was already using elaborate and advanced college-level vocabulary to describe his transition and his gender feels in season 1, which felt very stilted and unnatural coming from a 13-year-old. He clearly was not using his own words. There's a clip from when he was 9 or something and being interviewed in his home, and when the reporter asked some spontaneous questions that Jazz or his mother had not been forewarned about, Jazz froze up and went completely silent. I don't think he was ever particularly intelligent. Perhaps good at instinctively knowing what adults wanted from him, but little beyond that. Now I guess we'll never know.

That is more or less the essence of trans ideology. A four year old’s conception of sex (a girl is someone who wears a dress and likes princesses more than dinosaurs) dressed up in academic language to make it sound profound.

Except for...Grandpa Jack, his mother, audience members, the random guy at the car wash, Amir's mother, Jojo's grandmother...and that's just off the top of my head. He becomes visibly unhinged when people challenge or question his rote ideology.

Delayed people can have amazing skills in one aspect and be deficient in others. He's not the first I've seen with a great vocabulary, combined with an ability to make sense of it.
To be fair to Exulansic, she said his condition was similar to Prader-Willi, not that Jazz had it.
The way he argued with Amir's mom and others was kinda mild, tbh. He goes out of his way to please people. He certainly doesn't knock down merchandise screaming IT IS MA'AM. I'm sure he gets scared when he gets pushback on trans ideology because he gets punished by his family, especially his mother. The way his mother lit into him when he spoke about his SRS complications was hard to watch. Considering what he's put through, he should be at the level of violence by now. That actually would be the appropriate response to people hounding him to get his penis inverted. He can't do it.

I don't know about abusive per se, as I think he only goes for Jazz like that because he's an exceptionally easy target that could be bullied by literally anyone. The vibe I get from Sander personally - which would explain the blocking, if accurate - is that of an absolute fucking terminal-level clinger when it comes to women he's interested in/attracted to. If they were in any way close in college, I would imagine she blocked him due to his obvious sheer desperation and emotional neediness. It's way easier to just block guys like that once you don't have to see them anymore, any attempts to explain or establish boundaries otherwise will just be met with wheedling.
