Lmao at my school one of the teachers grabbed a student in a chokehold and literally dragged him to the principals office because the kid busted a glass bottle in the hallway just to be an asshole.

The only time any of the fighting kids got anything more than 3 days suspension for fighting was when one retard got so pissed off at another retard that he took out a pellet pistol he had at school (read: retard) and shot him in the face with it.



On my end tbh I saw the No Child Left Behind bullshit do more damage than the "Zero Tolerance" which only got enforced if the adults cared to do so. But No Child Left Behind set nationwide academic expectations that essentially resulted in the normal to above average kids getting less education because every lesson had to focus on making sure even the glue eaters could understand it. Millions of kids who could've been a new generation of ambitious, intelligent, contributing members to society, got fed watered down lesson plans that often took an extra several days to weeks to complete since, again, everything was done at a pace set by the kids who were slowest to grasp concepts.

And for all the shit I love to give the Dems, that little nugget of fucking stupidity can be attributed to the Bush machine.

I rember when I was in like fourth grade when it finally "clicked" and I asked my mom why the kids who consistently made Ds and Fs on everything still got to pass each year but I had to actually work to make As and Bs.

They will for real hand hold and pass students that should fail because they don't want that on their record.

Also, they seem to hyperfocus on attendance rather than grades. So if I missed 8 days total out of the year because I had flu and like 2 appointments, I had to take all exams despite still having a As and Bs. Meanwhile if a straight D student had perfect attendance they could exempt the exams.

From what I hear they have armed security in malls and other public places too, plus people have to show the contents of their bags when they go enter a public building. Yeah, it's extra hassle but it works.

Of course good luck inconveniencing a liberal, they'd rather shit on everyone's rights than spend an extra 30 seconds showing the content of their purse at the mall.

To be fair conservatives act like taking your shoes off at the airport is the world's worst thing ever.

A big factor of this is fixating on what they feel they can control. Schools are judged, and funded by extension, based on their students performance. If you have students not showing up and performing like shit, then the school gets the blame for not having the kids there - obviously they'd be straight A students if it wasn't for the schools neglect. And while you can't force a kid to pay attention, you can force 'em to stay in the institutional learning box, and so they hammer hard on that because they can at some level influence the outcome.

The fact the entire system has focused down onto grade outcomes instead of life outcomes is a hard failure state though - I'd rather a kid go to a C average school with a 99% employment rate by age 20, over a straight A school with a 65% employment rate by 20. All biasing on grades has done is encourage fucking with grade points in general, focusing on teaching students to study, instead of focusing on useful skills and actual life outcomes. But its a lot harder to measure life outcomes, and bureaucrats are lazy fucks, so they take the easy but useless data route.
