Leaving your audience is recoverable to a point, worsening content as well, but straight up insulting your viewers and barely hiding your contempt for them? That's a step you can't undo. I think Jim potentially could recover to a point, being trans isn't a problem but what is an issue is regurgitation old talking point, do we really need to keep hearing 'Crunch bad, corporations bad, etc' and in many videos Jim is just repeating what others have said only a few days later when everyone else has moved on to other subjects.

And another thing is his humour is outdated, edgy gross out/sex humour was popular in what, the 2000's - early 2010's? It's also super awkward now we know it's not just him playing character like say the Angry Video Game Nerd or the Nostalgia Critic, he actually is like that in real life.

It's easily going to be another 5 to 10 years before Jim completely feels the pain of all of his bad decisions. His Patreon is still absurdly high, and unless he squandered all of his savings I doubt that he's going to feel any kind of regret over his poor decisions over the past couple of years. I think it's more likely that his body will give out before he sees his empire completely entropies out of existence.

I'm sure he doesn't invest. Guy lives a cushy life and tard rages about capitalism the second it inconveniences him slightly, this naturally pushes him away from investing considering it's a load of hard work for the average joe, it demands research, studying and constant attention to the market, unless he's got a guy that handles his money, it's likely he doesn't invest. Now, with his income, believe it or not but it's actually quite easy to piss away six figures when you're used to earning them easily. Goth clothes from certain brands can go well into the hundreds, drugs are excellent for burning money, not to mention he probably gives some away as gifts to his fellows. That and taxes, too!

As you pointed out, the problem is his grandiose narcissism. Guy built himself a boat, thinks it's the best to ever sail the seas and won't bother to do repairs even when the deck is clearly flooding, it would be an assumption that his creation isn't perfect, which isn't admissible! And the repetitive content does become a problem once he starts putting personal shit fucking everywhere on the videos, just imagine if you were watching a cooking show and during a break, the host decides to go off-topic. But not to tell a humorous story related to the recipe, or just an entertaining one, he goes deep into what turns him on and what doesn't like it fucking matters to anyone but himself. It's annoying and doesn't belong there, same as here!

This is part of why I never liked him. Everyone always said it was all a persona but he always seemed too invested in it seriously. It never felt like those or even a Yahtzee where he's playing up certain aspects for humor but then drops it when he's being serious.

At first it did seem like a persona because his delivery was so sarcastic in his demands for praise and worship that he felt like someone who understood how ridiculous it was to be a commentator on the internet. Then he left the Escapist and that disappeared, the opening sketches stopped being that, they were just preamble for the main video. And as he started making five figures a month he really began buying into the hype. The Digital Homicide incident really didn't help matters, it just fed him further.

We southern cousins don't have the British stoicism or American optimism but we do have the "don't give a fuck" attitude (at least for those older than 25, the university campuses are covered in political shit that can't be peeled off easily and clogs drains).

Jim is strange because he obsesses over politics and Twitter constantly, where here most people obsess over the price of lug washers and how much depreciation they can get for their utility truck at tax time. Topics on politics outside of your milquetoast "eh it's the corporations" is a social faux pas. No one cares about politics despite only having a federal election a week ago. We care about the same as American media does, it gets a spot the day of and that's it.

Anyone here taking themselves seriously is laughed at. Jim would be seen as a American freak show.
