Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

I think this could be a turning point for some lefties (not liberals) in regards to the gun/2A argument (like I've said elsewhere, Marx was pro-gun, "under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered..."). Learning about the pigs' response to this massacre seems like the perfect argument for never depending on cops to protect you or your loved ones. I'm not American and I have zero experience with guns, but it's obvious gun culture in the US isn't going anywhere ever, so if the people tasked (and paid) with protecting you just stand around or only help their own while your children are being slaughtered (not to mention make things worse, directing the shooter's attention to surviving children?! Really?!) then what else is there to do but protect yourselves?

Fuck 12.

If Twitter was around in 2005 during Katrina, it would have been hammered home that police will follow orders like when they went around confiscating firearms from citizens around the New Orleans area during said tragedy.
They don't care about saving children with a manic gunman in the school with them.
They've got pensions to consider and if a squad of them aren't confident to take out a teenage psychopath, then there is a whole hell of a lot wrong and it further cements why nobody should depend on anyone but themselves for personal and family protection.

I also tend to roll my eyes a little when such a small department gets a swat team together to pose for badass photos.
it doesn't take too much time/money to get some uniforms, subsidized firearms, discounted gear, and get a photo taken. training (and payroll) is a very large part of department spending in both departments i've worked for and like i said, hesitant leadership, older tactics, an unwillingness to make a mistake in a very bad situation can lead to paralysis as "someone else" with authority is supposed to take charge and actually be the incident commander. if things go badly due to a bad call, the rank and file don't want to be responsible for actions that would get kids killed.

in this case it seemed hardly anyone responding on site had the consequences from inaction in mind and many if not all also fell back on prior outdated training as well, which is what happens to many people that are infrequently exposed to very stressful situations (that and/or panic), possibly with poor assumptions (was or wasn't there an armed or unarmed resource officer inside?).

is any of that an excuse? maybe. but that's what i see based on my own experience and after talking with other people that have what i would consider relevant experience to make a reasonably informed opinion on the topic.

when i've had to deal with armed response incidents as the first unit on scene i've often had to lead and council other officers because despite training, not as many have actual direct combat experience, which a few of us did from military experience. not going home to your family is a pretty big source of paralysis and training can only go so far to resolve that the first time.

it's also worth mentioning that "pension" generally doesn't apply to contract cities or really any very small local authority as part of their benefits package. pensions are expensive, so often times small towns/cities that have their own police force will purchase retirement packages from the state employee retirement system (varies by state, CALPERS for example in California) and employee contribute to that retirement fund like anybody else, with the state contributing a portion matching up to a certain percentage. i don't think an actual pension fund really exists anymore outside of older established police forces that are also from a wealthy area like LAPD or something.

I'm too lazy to check all previous post if it was already posted but Timcast vlogged about a tweet then Andy Ngo did about some so-called journalists who are activists trying to pull a Jussie Smollett 2.0 about the Texas school shooting.

The troon shit was debunked days ago. And why the hell are you ridiculing anguished parents who listened to their kids being murdered?

Fucking psychotic mental midget.

This is who law enforcement officers should be. If you’re afraid of some fucking spaz shooting up an elementary school while you’re on the job as a cop maybe don’t become a cop. Fucking parents were braver than these pussy ass police.

Imagine how differently things would have gone if he'd actually been on duty. He's just one man, but his actions might have encouraged the lazy pigs to actually do something, instead of standing around with their thumbs up their asses.
