The former. Even Kathy Rumer has BMI cutoffs and this post by a morbidly obese TiF complains that no amount of doctor shopping could find her a surgeon willing to perform a mastectomy on someone with BMI > 36 (about 200 pounds at a height of 5'0" or 265 pounds at a height of 6'0" - fat but not enough to make people gawk anymore).

Anecdotally TiFs tend to be at an unhealthy weight, but not always obese - some of Sneed's patients including the infamous one with self-harm scars were very skinny and Ellen Page is pretty much the poster child for anorexia/trans comorbidity.

It's wild to see that she can fuck up so bad in one state and just start fresh somewhere else. I used to think that we had checks and balances. Whether its the government or the free market, good things were supposed to succeed and the bad things should get tossed in the trash bin. As I get older I'm learning the exact opposite is true.

When do we, as society, get to exercise our power and protect each other? Even the most ill-informed and mentally unwell people deserve protections from "doctors" like this.

Assuming Florida passes a Texas-style law and it is upheld by the courts Sneed's only options will be to revamp her practice or move to a blue state with lenient malpractice laws like Colorado or Michigan. They might be stricter than red states but at least she wouldn't be looking at jail time or deportation.
