“Pantsu’s” prediction was spot on - it’s been a fantastic trip. To be fair if you're a very ugly poorly socially adjusted mousey chick with a screwed up upbringing who never learned how to relate to people in any kind of healthy way, I could see that making someone pretty neurotic. 1. Did he go to Portugal to get away from May and the responsibilities of being a parent, absolutely. Whether he's dodging papers and legal business is anyone's guess. Just surprised he went back after getting his ass handed to him the last time.
2. Ralph is a raging and controlling narcissist. Living with any narcissist is an absolute nightmare. He's always in control and May has absolutely no say in anything whatsoever. She only does what Ralph tells her to do and if she falls out of line, she gets punished. It's all Ralph, all the time and May is his bitch. Unfortunately, May is also a very codependent person which is why I have doubts she's ever going to leave. Codependents never leave a relationship with a narcissist because it gives them that feeling they are needed and they feel their partner won't function or spiral downward without them. It's the exact same dynamic she was in with Digi, though Digi wasn't malignant.
3. I doubt it honestly.
I only reconnected with her during her sophomore year as I was a transfer student, but she told me how all her roommates have asked to be reassigned at the end of each semester. I never met the one she had that fall semester since that roommate was never around (I can now see why). I did meet the one she had that spring semester. Her name was Claire. They actually got along great, but that roommate ended up flunking out as well, a semester before May did. I know afterwards she ended up enlisting in the Air Force and moved to Colorado.

What I'm getting from Ralph here and in general, is that a father is an absolutely superfluous accessory for a young child, that has absolutely no importance, bearing or use to the child whatsoever.

That has me curious as too why she left Digi. I know Digi is a beta and a weirdo, but with May being co-dependent and Digi offering some e-fame and security, why did she end up with Ralph in the first place. I'm speculating Ralph was being a stereotypical sex-pest and messaging her behind Digis back, but May taking the initiative to cheat on him is the part I don't get because digi isn't 1/10th of the disaster Ralph was, and she's never shown any signs of leaving. In fact it's concerning levels of lack of self-perseveration.
