I honestly think it's down to effort, he only does them now to make some ready cash at one point he enjoyed making them and could have been a "viable" source of change for him, but like Chris and his medallions he's eroded what joy he earned from making them and then it started causing him problems like complaints and charge backs from shipping things late complaints he has to deal with etc so he only does them when he absolutely has to.

Ironically that lathe he has could be a proper little money making machine for him the number of woodworkers who want turned stuff outnumbers the people who have the space for a lathe, he could turn bowls, chair legs, hobo fishing reels, and sell them on Etsy and Ebay but it would take effort but I honestly think it's something he could potentially be good at or at least he could have been good at it once.

But doing it would have eaten into his drinking and smoking time so he never tried.
