There is a distinct trade off with going full woke, you gain the trust of gate keepers and those people behind said gates, but lose the people. I suppose Ethan has built up enough of a following he doesn't need to pander to the lowly proles, and now can secure influence with the higher echelons of society.

As to the pendulum swing, there is a shift happening. I was reading an article about how the current NYC's cultural scene is split between progressive millennials in Brooklyn versus hip kids in Manhattan, who are less ideological and willing to consider some rightwing ideas (think BAP, Mencious Moldbug, and related pseudo-intellectual online right wingers) . It's getting to the point that its more than just Tucker Carlson and Mayo-Americans living in fly over country bitching about it. But wokeness has entrenched itself with all the groups who you mentioned. Either by design or accident, wokeness perfectly appeals to the sensibilities of mid-level bureaucrats, who know how to fuck over people at organizational bottlenecks. And for some reason rich white women are big believers in it, and continue to finance woke organizations, giving them legitimacy.
