I don't know what kind of shit gun laws you have in California but you can get a variety of "pistol" braces. I have the Shockwave from KAK and while it isn't very comfortable, it makes my 10.5" .300blk "pistol" legal and still very fun to shoot. I would suggest a heavier buffer if you were going to build a gun like that though.

Not to mention the fact that he decided to buy a scary black “military style assault shotgun” and enhanced it with a notorious extended magazine tube. He checks every box that he campaigns against, but of course these are rules for thee and not for me.

Yup, there are additional bullshit laws on AR pistols that can increase their cost substantially but it's doable, here's the two I've built (FYI that thing on the bottom is called a CompMag, I didn't want to fuck up my Radian lower to make it compliant so this was the easiest solution).
