Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Found this in the otome games reddit that I lurk a lot on. This woman bought more otome games than she wanted and budgeted for just so she could have a complete row in her Switch game library. Not because she really wants to play them, but just for that reason and she passes it as lulsoquirky.

There are a lot of people like that in the otome community that just buy shit of their favorite games and husbandos and post their shrines. I remember someone bought a Yang pillow, not even a full body pillow, like, just a normal ass pillow with Yang's face on it for almost five hundred dollars. This one just really stood out to me because it is such a stupid reason to buy shit.
The awful anime waifu/husando games, the SJW trash, and awful Android/unity ports I see displayed on the Switch Store makes me look forward to the day I can hack the switch to put whatever I want.

To be fair, Lego isn't a bad investment. Even with open boxes and pieces missing, big sets will still sell for double if not more some time after being discontinued. I had a pirate ship that retailed at ~$100, now people are selling it on ebay for between $400-$2800 depending on the condition. Unfortunately mine has long since been lost to younger relatives. Oh well.
I had a Lego Boba Fett figure that sold for $400 on eBay. That was in 2014-15. Some of the old sets I had growing up with are selling for triple retail unopened.

I always wanted one of those really cool expensive lightsabers. Seeing these people makes me not want to have one anymore. It's not even the famous sour grapes, it's "do I really want to be like those people?"

I can feel my pancreas screaming.

I first saw this on 1 of April on the official website to Dyson, and I still think it's an April fools joke.
I present you the Dyson air purifying + noise canceling headphones

Dyson went from making vacuum cleaners to making headphones? I’m not sure how cleaning out dust with a vacuum duster correlates with using headphones to listen to music.

They’ve been expanding out out household appliances for a while, they launched an extortionately expensive hair dryer and curlers a few years ago.

And just like their vacuums, the Dyson hair dryer is also a piece of shit:
Skip to 24:51 to see their "high-tech impeller" in the flesh.

They want $500 for that fucking thing.

I'm not religious, but that's a damn good Biblical quote! Even if you're not religious, it still makes a good point.

If life as we know it were to come to an abrupt end, then how would all these consoomers deal with it? Would they have any way to cope? Would they move on? Give up on life? Is their affluenza so bad they would just find a new way to consoom? I guess only time will tell.

Adapt or die, although I'd imagine the latter moreso than the former. As stated before in the thread these people have a hole in their hearts where purpose and meaning should be, and they're trying to fill it with plastic tat.

How the fuck did you manage to sell a boba fett for 400 in 2014-15? The price spike and scalper nightmare of them online widescale is really recent post-rona world shit and tied entirely to consoomer/reddit hype shit about "value" to the point even the lepin/lele ass bootlegs are being charged for insane prices claimed as "replicas" until you read the fine print. I could understand maybe $100 tops for the exclusive cloud city one but $400 for the standard one that's like $40 at most right now with successful scalper sales? Was it a desperate bidding war between bots or some shit?

Lego as an "investment" is a fucking joke and an excuse for squating on a shitload of lego sets for the sole purpose of scalping them later. What I'd consider an actual lego "investment" is the shit some hobbyists do where they sell individual parts for like a few cents or dollars. That shit can quickly build up into cash as a side-job if you got interesting or useful parts people are after. I don't got the spare money to do either of these things but if I did I'd do the "specialized parts vendor" thing as it's a much more fulfilling and less stagnant chain of action and feedback.

I've always been amazed when people collect shoes, especially when they don't wear them. Having several dozen of sneakers just to have on your walls seems like a bad investment, and wearing them is sort of pointless since they get dirty and are often overlooked

It was a mint Cloud City edition. I guess some people got in a bidding war over it. I wasn't a US based buyer, it was some Asian collector or something cause I sent it overseas. Prob could go for double now cause US consoomers love Legos in an unhealthy way now.
