Looking back at old vlogs, there's nothing that suggests Phil enjoyed their company. It had the feeling like when you were a kid and were forced to hang out with some kids you didn't want to, but there was pressure that you needed to be friends with them. They were basically tools Phil could utilize, like you say.

Yes, Phil has shown rare emotion when talking about them post-breakup, but I chalk that down to Phil regretting that he has absolutely nobody in his Renton life except weird women he flies and buys in.

He tears up thinking about all the unpaid work he still could have gotten out of them.

For me personally its gotta be Current YT Dsp, where he essentially goes into panic mode everytime he gets under 50 or people dont tip him under a certain amount of time.

Finally i find it strange that he has ramped his begging , could it be that something is happening behind the scenes or is he testing out how hard can he beg?

Both but mostly the latter because he isn't getting shamed hard for it on the same level of not taking Jasper to the vet. It has been progressively become worse and worse. A few years ago it was a dingy leaderboard where $25 was considered a good stream with $150k+ more in debt and it somehow got to where we are now where that got cleared but $25 is terribly slow.

The shit behind the scenes is just more spending, which is the symptom of the hard begging allowing him to splurge more on the same useless shit instead of saving it.
