Community Quiverfull Movement Lolcows - Starring the Duggars

Considering he was offered a plea deal of 10 years that he turned down, 12 is about what I was expecting. I was hoping they'd give him the maximum penalty but I guess since they couldn't include the prior molestation in the case he couldn't use that to justify 20 years.

You would think watching literal baby torture porn would be enough to net him the maximum sentence, but the US is notoriously lax on sex crime perps, especially first time offenders (or rather first-time-they're-caught offenders). Legally since he was never convicted of (or even charged with) the previous sex crimes he was a first time offender.

Iirc he was slightly under the amount of CSAM to get the full sentence, it’s like 600 images and he had 570ish images.

He can serve 85% of the sentence with good behavior, which is 11 of his 12.5 years.

And when he gets out, he will be on probation for 20 years. Terms of probation include no contact with minors, which means he can't move back in with Anna for nearly 18 years - until their youngest M Child #7 comes of age (and can't have any contact with any minor until 2054). He also can't use a computer without his POs permission.
damn so cokeheads in america get 30 years but pedos and murderous trannies just get let out after serving 5 years out of 12?

The sentencing differences are absurd, but the good news is that pest is not likely get out early. In the unlikely event he admits guilt/expresses remorse and is granted early release, he’d still have to serve the majority of his sentence.

I was checking up with my personal fundie cow that I followed way back when, Kristina of Kristina's keepsakes. She was infamous for the whole courtship ruler where they are not allowed to be closer than six inches and she was a huge fan of the Seven Royal Laws of Courtship and Stay in the Castle by Jerry Ross and talked about that a lot.

Well, I checked up on her Facebook page of her family and apparently she stopped at five kids, cut her hair, got a part time job outside the home, stopped homeschooling and sent her kids to a private school, and also began advocating for better treatment of mental health issues in the church due to her experience with post partum anxiety and depression. Overall, I am really happy she broke away from the more crazy stuff and just became a normal ass Protestant

I also realized that the fundie author Jerry Ross wrote a new book called The Warrior Prince which is Stay in the Castle told from the prince's perspective for the boys. I hope I can read it because I am morbidly curious, especially since Stay in the Castle was such a trainwreck of a story, basically, this king (supposed to be God) basically tells the princess to not go outside and wait in the castle for her prince, impatient, she ends up escaping from the castle and getting disowned by her father and marrying the peasant boy only for the prince to arrive when she is pregnant. Makes God look like an abusive asshole. I bet you anything the prince will probably have more freedom to do stuff and do more cool shit because of course.

Edit: Holy shit, he wrote FIVE more books in the Stay in the Castle series, he is really starting to spin a whole lore behind this shitty medieval fantasy world he created

Hey man, good for her! I'm always happy when one wakes up and says "enough" once they become a parent themselves. Good on her.

Yeah, I think having postpartum depression and anxiety and being treated badly by her fundie church really woke her up which I am glad. I am also glad her husband is supportive of her considering they courted for only a single month.

I can't find a way to read the rest of the Stay in the Castle series for free, but you can get the series used for barely anything. I might take the plunge and review them out of morbid curiosity since I have read Stay in the Castle and the Seven Royal Laws and it was quite the trainwreck.

Granted I wasn't raised in an acutely religious household - but wasn't Christ a carpenter?

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

You are right, he was a carpenter, they paint the peasant boy as some poor, worldly, alcoholic.

Here is a reading of the book. Seriously, the princess was lonely, I don't blame her for leaving. God could have at least gave her friends or something or make the castle more fun. It makes it sound like being a Christian isn't fun at all. Doesn't royalty usually have their own celebrations like feasts on different holidays? I mean, Christians celebrate stuff like Christmas and Easter, don't they?

But that book was probably written by just another religious guy with a hate boner for women

Good for that ginger chick, you'd think after so many fundie women horrifically murdering their children after being denied mental health care, they'd get the memo. But nope, you married a fleshlight and by god you will get your dad's money's worth.

I am currently in the process of archiving all of the chapters and excerpts of the Seven Royal Laws of Courtship that Kristina put up on her blog back when she was still drinking the kool aid with permission from Jerry Ross just because these rules and whatnot are what a lot of fundies follow in their courtship practices. Infact, Jerry Ross was the main person who really pushed for the whole courtship movement. Also the I Kissed Dating Goodbye guy Josh who later took back everything he said and pulled his book, but not before the damage was already done.

part 1 (archive)
part 2 (archive)
part 2 of part 2 (archive)
part 3 of part 2 (archive)
part 1 of part 3 (archive)
part 2 of part 3 (archive)
part 3 of part 3 (archive)

rest of pages currently archiving. This is all she posted of the book but it should give you a good idea of the advice given in the book.

Edit: everything is archived in case you want to read the first couple chapters or so on one of the main books behind the courtship movement

I also find it amazing how fundies view masculinity. Like, have they ever seen how Jesus behaved in the gospels? He behaved like the opposite of what they preach men should be and if you even dare bring it up, they will claim you are feminizing Jesus and you are one of those dang dirty feminists.

I learned that there was a sex scandal with the late Ravi Zacharias where it was revealed he sexually abused and harassed various massage therapists, like this does dumbass know the difference between a legit massage therapist and a prostitute? Not that it matter because it still would be disgusting and those ladies still wouldn't deserve that. (archive)

I thought this was relevant and really piqued my interest because my theology teacher at my Christian middle/high school used to make us watch a lot of Ravi's sermons. Makes me wonder if that teacher still uses them or not. As much as I hate how a lot of public school teachers are indoctrinating kids with all of this critical race theory and age inappropriate sexuality stuff (I do think there should be some sex education at a young is good though like how to avoid predators, what bodily autonomy means, and basic anatomy, but again, it is age appropriate), these private Christian schools completely go the other way and they are not much better.

I have a lot of stories from my six years at a Christian private school like how this one teacher thought my favorite dinosaur the archeopteryx was a hoax and an inside job all because it was one of the things that proved that birds descended from dinosaurs and totally blew the young earth creationist theory out of the water.

Of course, but remember, aside from the fact that these religious nuts don't actively read the bible outside of a few choice bits, in this case "peasant" is a metaphor for a non-Christian. Or more specifically, anyone who doesn't follow their very specific brand of Christianity (which makes them the same as a non-Christian regardless if they are or aren't). Hence the "need" to warn girls not to stray out of their tiny community, even if their community doesn't go past their front door, as well as remind them that their father (and all men really) is basically the same thing as God. Can't let no-good women start thinking for themselves and leave the cult because they realize just how much it sucks for them gotta protect the fragile women from straying from God's path because they don't know better.

What do you want to bet that in a year or two the duggars will talk about Josh’s prison saga like it’s a good thing? Like claiming he’s ministering to all the other chomos and leading them to Jesus.
Think Jim Bob is hubristic enough to make a 40 days in the desert reference?

I would pay actual hefty USDs to watch that on PPV. I wouldn't even pirate it.

Well, maybe someone in the dayroom will put in work (as they do in exchange for a tattoo that grants certain status) and create Joshie's Destruction. If we're lucky, we can even get a mashup with Jared Fogle.

I'd put regular money on someone's books for that.
