..bit of a powerlevel but I had recently some very dear friends leaving their home country behind after years of toeing lines, for political reasons. The man even used to be a lawyer in a country where being a lawyer while having somewhat of a conscience is even worse than it already is and they had to leave relatively quickly with not much. They now also start over with not much, and he's working night shifts in a job very much less prestigious than his previous one, a job he's unqestionably completely over-qualified for. All at the ripe old age of 50-ish, which, you know, is not exactly the best age to start over. They still take it in stride and a few weeks ago he proudly proclaimed having been nominated employee of the month. I mean, people often say "It's never too late" and all that and that's completely true also but well it's not exactly a comfortable age to start from zero and I have to admit in his place I'd be a lot more depressed than he is.

I think about Lowtax in that circumstance actually quite often, an aging man-child not much younger who had much other people would envy him for and then was faced with an admittedly serious but not really big hurdle in life all things considered (a hurdle of his own doing, too) and then proceeded to completely falter, taking the absolute most cowardly and shitty way out possible, after whining, kicking and screaming for months like an angry, shitty child and hurting everyone involved indiscriminately in the worst possible way out of vengeful spite, nontheless. Lowtax is really unique in just how much of an irredeemable cunt he was and I still can't find anything good about him or even pity him. And I'm a goody-two-shoes optimist often. It's quite impressive.

lol, imagine being dead in current year. What a gooftroop!

As big of a lazy faggot as Lowtax was he had enough IT experience to land a solid 50-55k a year system admin job. Yet he chose to kill himself because his addiction to hedonism was that severe.

What a dipshit, rest in piss.

Did he though? What did he actually do besides collecting whatever money the site made? My understanding is that all the actual work was done by jannies and while yeah, in an interview it probably sounds impressive that he "ran" that site but once he's actually further into the interviews or by some fluke gets hired he needs to actually have some applicable skills or they're gonna sniff him out real quick.

I m inclined to agree.

Is there an archive of the sass site with radiums dox? because at one point richard shared IM's of radium and it was clear rich had no web master skills at all.

Someone put it best he was one of the first people on the real estate of the internet and coasted on that for 20 years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY3ab_uOvg0 its like how dated this fucking clip is.

Are we still posting thread themes? I think this one fits very well, except for the "your brain is cold" part, since Lowtax shot his brains out, and now he is dead!

LowTax could have gone down in the names of Steve Jobs but instead he got relegated to man. He became the cow that shitted manure for the flowers. I can’t picture a better song than this.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking of writing a book of this guy. Nearly everyone has heard of the story of LowTax but we barely get a chance to know the mind of LowTax.

With a putty knife and a little inside info you could've had as much of his mind as you wanted, few months back.
