It's kind of hilarious to see how Top Gun Maverick handled being a modern sequel and compare it to how Soy Wars would've done it, especially seeing them back to back. It was pure fanservice through and through but Disney has proven to be incapable of using even that competently.

Absolutely horrifying. The fight feels weaker that the battle between Obi and Vader in ANH. Yeah, it's understandable that he's in retirement and haven't fight for 10 years and being broken and guilt-ridden but how could Disney execute this duel at this way? Fucking Deborah Chow man.

In real life, these people are committed to the idea that nothing bad can be a woman's fault, so when female politicians and business executives oversee egregious failures, they see it as circumstances beyond the poor woman's control, and she should be praised simply for being a woman and occupying a leadership position while everything goes to hell. See, for example, their inability to blame Kathleen Kennedy for the many failures of Star Wars. So they write with this same mindset, unwittingly writing stories that a normal person would interpret as comical displays of incompetent leadership (both Leia and Holdo fit the bill), expecting that audiences will see the woman as tough and badass and not responsible for anything going wrong.
You're forgetting the most important part: Tom Cruise only makes films to entertain his audience (and satiate his adrenaline fetish), not push some woke political message or intentionally divide people. He cares about the products he puts out. It's like what Star Wars used to be, pure entertainment for everyone. I don't think he's even mentioned Scientology once since that shitshow Chanology video leaked 15 years ago. I have no idea who he voted for in 2020. If he worked at Kennedyfilm he'd be peddling Xenu and D&I in his flicks and calling everyone bigots on twitter. No wonder they want to slander him.
